
Boruch Dayan Hoemes: Mr. George Davidsohn, OBM
With great sadness we inform you of the passing of George (Moshe Dovid) Davidsohn, OBM, a renowned philanthropist and member of the Jewish communities of Crown Heights and Boro Park, Brooklyn.
Davidsohn was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, to a Jewish family originating from Romania; when he was ten, the family moved to New York City where his father worked as a diplomatic consul. At 14, Davidsohn started his career on Wall Street as an IBM punched-card clerk, while attending high school at night. He attended Brooklyn College and the New York Institute of Finance.
He started his professional carreer on Wall Street at Dean Witter. Later on, he founded his own company Davidsohn Computer Services.
For many decades, as his company was thriving, Mr. Davidsohn was known as a baal tzdakah, contributing to many diverse causes. He was respected in many different communities, most notable Chabad. Mr. Davidsohn was a mispallel in the Bais Medrash of the Liska Rebbe Shlita in Boro Park for many years.
The Levaya Was held on Motzei Shabbos in New York.
The Liska Rebbe delivered a hesped at the levaya, pointing out Mr. Davidsohn’s commitment to hiring heimishe yingeleit when it wasn’t fashionable.
Hespedim were delivered by Liska Rebbe, Rav Tzvi Hersh Friedlander Shlita, Rav Yaakov Leifer, Rav Yehoshua Balkany, Dean Bais Yaakov of Midwood, Mr. Davidsohn’s son Yossi Davidsohn. An motional heartfelt ‘Kel Mallei’ was delivered by the famous Cantor Yitzchak Meir Helfgot.Tehillim was recited by Rabbi Sholom Duchman, Director of Colel Chabad.

He is survived by his wife, Denise (Shaina Dina), his Son, Yossi, and Daughters: Rochel Leah Jaffe and Brindy Lezzel of Crown Heights, and Ester Schwab, Fruma Cohen, and Chana Mayberg of Miami Beach, FL, as well as many grandchildren.
The family is sitting Shiva in Crown Heights and Miami Beach, Florida. Shivah in Crown Heights will be at the Jaffe home: 529 Brooklyn Ave. Apt. #3C.
Monday Shivah will be from 12:00pm – 4:00pm and 7:00pm – 10:00pm; Tuesday –Thursday will be from 10:00am – 4:00pm and 7:00pm – 9:30pm.
The family requests that nyone who wants to make a donation in his memory should donate to Crown Heights Hatzalah, and bring the donation to Judaica World of Crown heights on Kingston Ave.
