With sadness we inform you of the passing this past Friday of Reb Sholom Dovber Alperowitz, OBM, in Los Angeles, CA. He was 84 years old.

Reb Sholom was born to devout Chassidim Rabbi Chaim Moshe and Mrs. Doba Gita Alperowitz in the Soviet Union in the summer of 1930.

When he was a child, his family emigrated to Eretz Yisroel, where he studied in Yeshivas Achei Temimim in Tel Aviv.

When he was a Bochur, he traveled to New York to study in 770. He remained in New York after he got married, working at first for Mekos L’inyonei Chinuch and later serving as a Shliach in various communities. He is credited with being Mekarev hundreds of Jews back to their roots.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sashe Alperowitz; his brothers: R’ Yerachmiel Alperowitz and R’ Efraim Alperowitz; and children: R’ Meshulem Zushe Alperowitz (Kiryat Gat, Israel), R’ Yosef Yitzchok Alperowitz (Bournemouth, UK), R’ Yekusiel Alperowitz (Massachusetts), Mrs. Tila Tzira Dubrowsky (Curitiba, Brazil), Mrs. Rochel Berkowitz (Los Angeles, CA) and Mrs. Bluma Hecht (New Haven, CT); as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
