Baruch Dayan HaEmes. A similar case happens in the gemara which is why it is considered that Acher possibly went off the derech, except the truth is that in a case of Sarcona in the natural order we do not rely on just the protection of a mitzvah as exemplified by Shmuel HaNavi’s telling Hashem that Saul HaMelech would kill him for going to anoint David HaMelech. May all this Torah be a z’chus to Rabbi Aharon’s memory and to all kol HaNeshamot. Baruch Dayan HaEmes, may his family be comforted amongst all the the mourner’s of Zion. Moshiach NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hashem You must build your Beit HaMikdash in order to save the lives of Your Children bikarov mamash and bring Your Moshiach and redeem Your Children.

If one’s time is up then the best way to go is while doing a Mitzva. There’s a Sicha from the Rebbe re the issue.

could be, acccoring to the gemorroh, that he had done building it. still very sad, but still, n0o-one will get hurt while on the way to doing a mitzva

He was a chavrusa of mine back in Kollel, and a friend. I’ll miss him. Baruch Dayan haEmes.
Are we allowed to rely on a ness?
BDE. I would like to think that Rabbi Stawky did all that was expected so as not to get into harms way. Nevertheless, some people seem to think that you can cut a few safety precautions, relying on a ness, that because you are doing a Mitzvah, you will not get hurt. I think this is wrong!
Kind of like an incident, many years ago, when a Chasid was rushing to catch a farbrengen. He darted across Eastern Parkway, apparently carelessly, and, nebach, got hit. I think he recovered, B”H.

The Gemara qotes a story where a young boy was comanded by his fagther to climb a ladder and fulfil the Mitzvah of Shiluach Hakein. In both these Mitzvot the Toah promisses long life. On the his way down the ladder the boy slipped to his death. The gemara concludes; “long life” must be refering to “olam Haba” the world to come!
perhaps in this case too we can say “protecttion while doing a mitzvah” will be in his “olam haba” he will enter the world to come with no harm!
to number 14, number 1 here
im not satisfied with that.
to Number 6 &8 &12
To number 6 and 8 I’ll bet this tragedy is the result not of his carelessness but of the sinas chinam that is going on in Kan tzivah Hashem es Habracha! Starting from the top! to Number 12 you can say what you said when it happens to YOU CHAS VEsholom. But when such a tragedy happens to someone else it should hurt you and you should be compasionate. Hashem should protect us!
Ushmartem
There is a Mitzvah of Ushmartem Meod Es Nafshoisechem. There has been a lot of arguing in this forum regarding how could this happen to a pure Jew while doing a Mitzvah. We should NEVER rely on a Ness, even while performing a Mitzvah. Always take safety precautions. Doing a Mitzvah while transgressing the Mitzvah of Ushmartem Meod Es Nafhoisechem is a Mitzvah Habah Al Y’dei Aveirah. I am quite sure that if there would have been a competent rabbi around at the moment he would have exempted him from building the Sukka, as long as he doesn’t risk his life.
The Rebbe-s typical response t tragedies
The Rebbe always linked such untimely tragedies to a need for our community to strengthen our divine protection!!
we all know how to re-attract Hashems protection against tragedies…. lets all unite & take hachlatos to improve Hashem’s brachos & protection to our kehilos!!
