With great sadness we inform you of the passing of Rabbi Avrohom Yitzchok Garfinkel, of Blessed memory. Rabbi Garfinkel was a student at the Lubavitcher Yeshiva in Otwock, Poland, before World War Two. He survived the war, and immigrated to America where he settled in New York. He was a beloved teacher at the Lubvitcher Yershiva on Bedford and Dean St., and later at the one on Ocean Parkway.

The Levaya will take place Motzei Shabbos, 8:00 PM at the Shomrei Hadas funeral home; from there will be flown to Eretz Yisroel for burial.

My favorite Rebbe! Rabbi A.Y.Garfinkel Gave me my Bar-Mitzva lessons in 1964. I remember going to his house one block off Empire Blvd.the street after Utica Ave. Later he lived a few years in Canarsie.
Rabbi G. was regal, elegant and exquisite. He was careful in his attire. His posture was perfectly straight/erect. Rabbi G. reminded me so much/ similar in his apperance and character as the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
His younger son, the dentist, married the daughter whose parents were very close to my parents, like family members..
I’m delighted that #5 corrected #4 that the yeshiva moved in September in 1969. The year I completed High school in June of 1969.
Thank you #3 for the correct spelling and appropriate phrase: Chaval al d’avdin…. Boruch Dayan HoEmes.
