Boruch Dayan Hoemes: R’ Yosef Rogatsky, 94, OBM
With sadness we inform you of the passing of Reb Yosef Rogatsky, OBM, a longtime resident of Crown Heights, at the age of 94.
Born in Russia in 1919 to a chassidishe family, he served in the Red Army and was among the men who liberated Berlin from the Nazis.
He later moved to the United States with his wife Katya (Kayla) and settled in Crown Heights. Reb Yosef was remembered fondly from his many years as the caretaker of the Mikvah at 770 Montgomery Street.
“He was a kind and Aidel Yid who had a lot of Ahavas Yisroel. Always with a smile on his face and a good word” his nephew recalled.
On Shabbos morning Reb Yosef was not feeling well and was taken to the hopital, and later in the afternoon he returned his soul to his creator.
He is survived by his wife Katya (Kayla) and son Moshe Rogatsky (New Jersey).
The Levaya will take place Sunday morning and will be leaving from Shomrei Hadaas at 9:45am and passing by 770 at around 10:30am.
