BDE: Rabbi Sholom Mendel Kalmenson, OBM
With great sadness we inform you of the passing of Rabbi Sholom Mendel Kalmenson of Aubervilliers, France. He was one of the first shluchim of the Rebbe; he started his shlichus in 1963 and founded a school called ‘Schneor.’ With his continued effort, devotion and dedication, Aubervilliers has become a blossoming jewish community. The school currently has about 500 students.
He is survived by his wife, Basya Kalmenson, Aubervilliers, France, and his children: Beila Gansbourg (Milan, Italy), Rivka Lipsker (Crown Heights), Rochel Bruchstat (Crown Heights), Faiga Levitin (New Haven, Ct), Leah Raskin (Australia), Sterna Deitch (Migdal Ha’emek, Israel), Chaya Nisselevitch (Aubervilliers,France), Meir Simcha Kalmenson (Aubervilliers, France) and Yosef Yitzchak Kalmenson (Aubervilliers, France).
He has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many of whom are proud shluchim all over the world.
