Rabbi Itkin, OBM, was like fire and his enthousiasm was contagious.

He basically ran Jewish student and adult life in Hamilton, Ontario, and he will be missed by all.

Moshiach now? I’m not so sure. But how about a few more giants like R’ Itkin until then?!

  • McMaster Alumni

Rabbi Itkin was a special caring man, who was incredibly supportive of me when I lived in Hamilton. He will be truly missed.

  • McMaster Alumni

Rabbi Itkin was very special to the McMaster community and esspecially the Jewish students. He made Shabbat special for us even though we were away from our homes. He will be missed by all. My sincere condolences to his family.

Tonight, we are having a farbrengen with the topic of 19 Kislev (yes, it is the 20th now, but we think Rabbi Itkin would have liked that we are doing this.) We plan to learn to honour his memory, and by doing so, help the light of Jewish Study in Hamilton continue to burn brightly. 8pm, Andrea and Marc’s house.

I am honoured to have known Rabbi Itkin. His Maasim Tovim were many, and he had an incredible effect on people in the Jewish and non-jewish communities at large.

We look forward to the Chuppah on Thursday and plan on following the directions sent by telephone this morning…

Rabbi Itkin brought me close to Hashem. He changed my life and by doing so, has changed the future of my life with my husband and my growing family. He has a great share in my ruchnius and that of my family. Rabbi Itkin and his family welcomed me into their home and made me feel like a part of their clan- I called him Tati. He was gentle and kind and showed me love of Hashem. He never pushed- he encouraged me with humor and love. He was truly a great Shaliyach of Hashem in this world.

Tonight we had 20 people over to our house at a Farbrengen and to learn in honour of Rabbi Itkin’s memory. We read about 19 Kislev from Chabad.com and one woman gave a d’var torah on the topic. We all told our stories about how and what we appreciated about Rabbi Itkin, and what we came away with was an overall feeling that if we could all just do ‘one more thing’ then it would be a good way to honour his memory.

Your whole family is in our thoughts.
In his honour Yitzi (Ryan) and myself have each taken on two more things.
Such a wonderful, caring man. Words cannot even begin to describe the profound respect, admiration, inspiration he was and will continue to be. He was a huge influence and role model in my life.

Will be at the chuppah with a smile on.
