She was my aunt. She wasn’t famous. We lived together with my
grandmother and aunt Fanya, an extended family in a small apartment in Tashkent. She took a lot of punches in her life:
at the age of 9 she was left with a hearing loss after a ear infection ,while escaping the Nazis on a barge : then there was starvation, loss of her father and two siblings; working since the age 14: after a brief bad marriage she came back to live with us with her daughter
We could not emigrate as an extended family and had to leave my grandmother, Fanya and her daughter behind until they were able to go to Israel a few years later. My mother was traveling to see them every year, for 20 plus years.
My beautiful aunt Fanya was always friendly, positive, warm and sensitive and proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
May she have A Lichtekem Gan Edem.
