Boruch Dayan Hoemes!
So sad! She was in a coma for eight months before she passed away.
She was my great aunt!
AD MOSAI!
Rabbi Mendy Solomon
On my first trip to the USA to visit the Rebbe in 1979, our family was graciously hosted by Rabbi Mendel & Sara Shemtov. Their Hachnosas Orchim, care and warmth was exemplary.
Sara’s close friendship and bond with my parents over many years has been something that I know they have cherished deeply.
I try and model my own “open house to all” from what I’ve learned by witnessing this benevolent woman.
On behalf of all the Solomon’s, I wish to extend to the entire Shemtov family heartfelt condolences and blessings of comfort.
Thank you Sara for your genuine Chesed and wonderful times, never to be forgotten.

Seigel
When our family moved to Crown Heights in 1993 we had the very great honor of being window neighbors with Rabbi Mendel and Mrs. Sara Shemtov.
Imagine having a front row seat to see two of Hashem’s greatest and yet humblest creations in action! Oh what a tremendous learning experience it was for our family. Watching these two experts simply carrying out their daily activities and hearing the sounds of their beautiful family life was truly one of the most powerful memories we will always have.
We learned step by step how to build a Chassidishe family, and we learned more from them then any book could have ever taught us.
We thank you Rabbi and Mrs. Shemtov for all of the life lessons you taught us just by being yourselves. Because of you we learned how to be parents, and now Thank G-d, grandparents as well. We will forever be grateful to Hashem for placing us next door to you and your incredibly genorous extended family.
You watched out for us and took care us, but more than that you taught us that even though we didn’t come from a family like your’s, we could learn how to create such a family of our own. You gave us protection both physically and emotionally, and you showed us that we had the strength within ourselves to be the kind of family that we deeply desired to be. How do we possibly thank you for your gift of love and learning you gave to us?
All we can do I guess is to try each day to live our lives in the ways that you taught us, and to instill in our children and grandchildren the same beautiful values of family that we so lovingly learned from our very special neighbors and friends.
Rest in peace Sora Shemtov, you worked harder than anyone I know. Now you can sit back and enjoy watching your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren carry on doing the same magnificent work they learned from you and your husband. What a beautiful family you raised, and how proud Hashem must be of you and your husband not only for all of the mitzvas you did, but also for all of the mitzvahs you taught others to do.
We look foward to seeing you soon and to hearing the sound of your voice again when Moshiach comes, and may that time come now!
And to Feige, Bassie, Kasriel, Yossi, and Levi, may you continue to follow in the footsteps of your wonderful parents, and may Hashem comfort you among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
Fondly with our love and gratitude,
David and Leslie Seigel and family
