With great sadness and pain we inform you of the untimely passing of Harav HaChossid, Member of the board of Tzach, Askan Tzibburi and Baal Tzedaka, Rabbi Mendel Shemtov of Crown Heights.

He leaves behind his wife Sarah, sons R. Yossie Shemtov Shliach to Tucson Arizona, R. Kasriel Menahel of the Chader at the Ohel, R. Levi Shliach to West Bloomfield Michigan, Daughters Mrs. Faigy Duchman Crown Heights, and Mrs. Bassi Treitel Montreal, Brothers R. Avrohom Shemtov Shliach to Philadelphia, R. Berel Shemtov Shliach to Michigan, R. Yisroel Shemtov Crown Heights, Sisters, Mrs. Batiya Azimov Paris, and Mrs. Sudak London.

The Levaya will be leaving tomorrow [Wednesday] at 8:15am from Shomrei Hadaas Chapel and will be passing by 770 at around 9:00am.

    Boruch dayan ha-emes- from a wonderful Lubavitch family with brothers, sons, nephews and nieces making the Rebbe proud. How many familes have been so successful worldwide spreading the Rebbe’s word.

    After a hundred and twenty years when a Bal Habos will come Lemaala – and he will be asked why did you not do more in Torah and Mitzvos- why didn’t you give more Tzedako -why didn’t you do more in Hafatzas Umayanos – Why didn’t you you do more for the Rebbe’s Shechuna – why didn’t you do more for the Shluchim …
    and he will answer – " I didn’t have enough time – I was in business – I was busy …
    and Beis din Shel Maala will say – " but look at Reb Mendel – he was a businessman too – and yet look at what he accomplished"

    Boruch Dayan Emes, and kos tanchumin especially to my long separated but far from forgotten friends the Treitels in Montreal.

    When did this happen? Avremel S was in front of me on line at a store here in CH somewhere around 8.30 last night and everything seemed as usual with him.

    No, it is not of Yisroel Shemtov – I was at the levaya this morning and saw Yisroel, who does not look like that pic at all – the pic is not focused or otherwise deficient but it is a pic of Reb Mendel Shemtov AH.
