New York, NY — Thursday Morning Bochurim and Children were seen milling around President and Kingston, where they were looking for their ‘Mitzvah Tanks’ and the group they will be sharing it with. The 57 Tanks, corresponding to the number of years of the Rebbes Nesius, were all lined up and ‘armed’ with Pesach Guides, Matzos, Neshe”K and Tefillin, to set off on the annual Mitzvah Tank Parade commemorating the Rebbes birthday which takes place today, Friday, Yud Alef Nissan.

Over 100 Gorgeous pictures of the Parade and Mivtzoim for your viewing pleasure, in the Extended Article!

At around 11:15am the parade set off, escorted by officers of the NYPD’s Highway Division, on its way to Manhattan where the biggest Kiddush Hashem was displayed up 6th Avenue then down 5th Avenue. The parade ended at 24th St. and 5th Ave. and from where each tank set out to its designated location to do Mivtzoim around the city.

    wow!!!!
i am a believer in spreading chassidus.i think its amazing that chassidishe bochorim are going on mivtzoim. the rebbe will shep nachas.

  • Wowed

WOW! How many matzos were given out? How may people put on Tefillin? Such nachas for the Rebbe!

  • Read if you care

It is sad to say this, but for the terrible Chilul of the Rebbe’s name this parade will be causing on the day of the Rebbe’s birthday, it is better that the Tank Parade does not happen all together.

    Do no dammage!

Have we already forgotten the heart breaking St. Louis article that was published right here a few days ago?

When will we cease to be driven by personal success and agendas and begin to think about the Rebbe for once?

  • A Proud Chossid

To Mr. Read if You Care:

You are gravely mistaken. The parade was beautiful. Are you embarrassed by Chabad outreach work? What is your issue? All the signs were neutral with quotes from the Rebbe such as “Lets Welcome Moshiach with acts of goodness and kindness” next to a picture of the Rebbe and “Light Shabbos Candles” etc. The shirts worn simply said “Parade 57”. The paraphernalia handed out were Matzas, Pesach guides, etc. No Tzafti material was disseminated at all.

According to your logic – because a person received wacky and damaging Tzafat material and wrote a negative article about it – all Chabad activity that is not to your comfort level should cease. Should Chasidim stop wearing black hats in Manhattan for that same reason? What you wish for is a very slippery slope.

The Rebbe’s mantra has always been to go out in the public and spread the light of Torah. Obviously, this needs to be done in a proper manner. The Mitzvah Tank Parade definitely fell within this parameter – that of spreading the light of Torah and Chassidus in a manner that makes a Kiddush Hashem and not Chas V’Sholom the opposite.

    Moshiach Now!!!
Happy Yud Aleph Nissan and a Kosher and Freiliche Pesach,

  • The proud, the few, the mighty

    Attn: Read if you care.
Snag. Mivtzah Tanks and Mivtza is what chabad is all about. Now even the litfisha are getting into it. Your old fashion “hide in a closet better” is just that. No one is perfect and you fight with the army that you have. Welcome to the the new world of the proud, direct, fareless Jews who ask the world to do the right things according to Hashem’s Torah. There is nothing to be ashamed of and everything to be proud of.

  • To: Read if you care

I don’t get it… can you please explain what you mean by “chilul of the Rebbe’s name”?
    BTW – Great pictures!!!
    Looks amazing!!!

  • Montreal Seminare

Amazing, what a Kiddush Hashem! In the middle of all the hurry, and the Manhattan businesses! pops in a bunch of Mitzva tanks!… BEAUTIFUL! G-d is loving this!

Thanks to ALL the people that were part of it!
May there be many more of these!

  • AGREE

yes totaly agree not to undermine the great work the bochurim and kids did.
but the chilul hashem with yechi etc…
is hurting from getting alot more people entering those Mitzvah Tanks

  • Howard Beach

Wow, Mordy!! You did it once again!! What a real Kidush Hashem and Kidush Lubavitch!!
    Love, Mushky,Mendy,Dovi,Miri and Dassi
p.s. pretty cool convertible you got there!

  • TREAD LIGHTLY

to read ;if u care, watch out, cause those that speak out so vehemently against lubavitch usually end up becomimng the staunchest chasidim…..
this parade was the greatest kiddush hashem and kiddush Lubavitch. It’s parades like this that make Lubavitch beloved by all.

  • mitzvah tank org.

for all those wondering we are an affiliate of tzach and work close with chabad.org ther were a few thousad dollars worth of new sighns ordered but ther was an issue getting them to america so iy”h next year and on the weekly tank we will have them.

a big thank you to all the drivers and people that donated to the cause the success was incredible and im sure gives the rebbe much nachas

As long as the bochurim werent handing out yechi stuff….this is great mivtzoim…so Dear mr Read if you care…what better suggestions do you have? how would you commemorate Yud Alef Nissan??

  • How Can U Oppose??

ITS MIVTZOM! A basic principle of Lubavitch! If you oppose mivtzoim, then its opposing the Nasi Hador- not what we are talkin about right now, but that this was a wonderful thing- Bochurim ALL OVER THE WORLD on Yud Aleph Nissan celebeated the rebbe’s b-day by doing mivtzoim and giving tzeddakah..this is such a chassidish, nice way!! Who would oppose???

  • Tante Rochele- min Monsey

OY Moyshil’l Fredbergman, my dear nephew-in-law, don’t vorry about such tings! Da bochurim did great, b”h, and my dear nephew, don’t worry about such things, they just did kiddush hashem mamaesh! LOVE YOUR TANTE

  • elchonon

I hate to break it.. BUT, 90% of those geting into the mitzva tanks do not know or care about tzfatim and chabad infighting…They simply want to put on tefillen and connect to hashem..

  • Tank Parade=chilul Lubavitch

First of all, the Rebbe doesn’t need a PR campaign, i.e. ‘lets see how many times we can “plaster” the Rebbe’s picture.
Second, you call putting a picture of the Rebbe near a ‘welcome Moshiach’ sign neutral!?
(Also correct me if im wrong but I believe it said “long live..” on the main mitzvah tank poster)
Thirdly, I’m sure many people donned tefilin. However, Just because some kids did mivtzoim it doesn’t mean there was no chilul lubavitch.
Lastly, ‘Beofen hamiskabel’ has a lot more implications since the mishchistim ruined mivtza “Moshiach”.

  • Chaim Hillel

I dont understand what ppl are complaining about!

    1) As stated above the Rebbe Instituted mivtzas tefillin
    2) This may be new to u all out there but…… there is a correspondence to the hjead of tzach in melbourne and the rebbe which states in summary that the reason a parade shouldnt be done in australia is b/c there is so little ppl that regular ‘erev shabbos’ mivzoyim reaches the same amount of ppl (end summary)
basically in places like new york it is neccesary to do such widley seen things!!!!
especially when they are neutral and do not touch the raw nerves……
(Welcome Moshiach’ as stated previuosly is a line of the rebbe … whats the problem. we cznt use the rebbe’s lines now?????????????????)

  • THE TIME IS NOW!!!!!

    To all:
It is quite evident, from the comments that we all agree that mishichism is a chilul Lubavitch etc. etc., so let’s get 2gether and try to do s/t abt. it quick b4 it’s too late!!!

  • Tante Rochel min Monseyville GO ILYA

Moyshil’le, my nephew, is noyn mashiachdiker’le. besides, who cares whos moshiachdik and who’s not? who are dem lubavichters kidding when they say anti or not anti? if you belive in the rebbe mamesh, deep in your heart, and our heart, we know the Rebbe is our Rebbe, he’s Moshiach. But why do you guys have to fight about it? Are you not a chassid? Is he not a chossid? So, you are all chassidim, know privately rebbe’s moshiach, publicly to draw people closer in follwing the Rebbe’s footstpes, we do mivtzoim and all, and do not have to blatantly in-your-face the rebbe’s messiah- wrong way, buster. Moyshel’le, my dear nephew, tell those people!!!

  • RE:CHILLUL HASHEM

What did YOU do for the Rebbe on 11 Nissan????????????????????

Are you trying to insuate that the enever told us to be Mefarsem Besuras Hageulah?????????????????????????????

How about telling us, readwers,t he RIGHT way to do Mivtzoim?????????????

  • Montreal Seminare

This is beautiful, no matter how many times you agree or disagree, bottom line is, people, Jewish not frum people see tanks and tanks and tanks of Jewish people their fellow Jewish people, and they feel proud and when they feel proud they feel connected and when they feel connected, They do things to connect to G-d and then you accomplished, you connected Jews do yiddishkiet. Thats it. End of story!

  • y.b

This is the best way to do mivtzoim Lubavitch has alot to be proud of!!!!
    p.s yanki wich comment did u leave>?

  • a bachur

oh you people just try to find things to argue about, ther was no chilul hashem involved in this amazing parade. a non frum man who can’t even read hebrew would never even notice that it says yechi, i didn’t even notice the yechi. so stop the nonsence and next time just do something yourself and stop criticizing.

  • a kosher un freilichen pesach

anyone with a problem with the parade or just got problems in genral the # to the mitzvah tank org. is 718 804 0077 or call tzach and ask for rabbi castel got a problem complain yourself and find out whats going on dont post all your garbage here on the rebbes birthday present

many hours work and sleepless nights went into this and by bochurim who r not fanatic mechechist just people that care for the rebbes mivtzoim and the sighns are being worked on so have feelings fore those people dont just bash them online

  • tamim

to all those who are complaining:

#1) if there ware dammaged boxes of matzos, it’s beacuase YOU didn’t sponsor anything!!!!!!!!

#2) the rebbe said so many times in sichos that he his moshiach, if u complaign abou tzfaty that means that you don’t understand anything!

they are the only type of people that live the rebbe day to day life, ANd follow in his ways. even those i agree with u that they make mistakes, Evryone does, no one his perfect, and anti’s also make mistake.

and Belive me i’m not going for the meshichistim, you guys just don’t understand how much the rebbe his against fighting, on such facts,

it is mamesh a big chilul LUBAVICH!

And even if u dont belive that the rebbe his moshiach, Yechi…. litterly in pshutey shel mikra means long live adoneinu…. the king mossaia, the adoneinu moreinu vrabeinu can also mean that moshiach his adoneinu moreinu vrabeinu….

It’s JUst people are looking to make fights and find xcuses for that, and they speak out of their am haaretze’s and on’t know anything that the rebbe said!!!

  • memunim department:

    for all those that care:
there was an averege of around 30 tfillin per tank – do the math.
    was it a chilul hashem?

  • Parade Staff Member

What a great Parade!! It was a major Kiddush Lubavitch!! A big yosher koach to all the staff at the Tank Office!!!

  • Zalman

WOW!! MY DONATION TO THE MITZVA TANK PARADE WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY! YOU GUYS ARE GIVING THE REBBE LOTS OF NACHAS! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

  • Parade=Chilul Lubavithc

Where dose the “welcome moshiach” sign come from any way… the only slogan the Rebbe ever koched in was “we want moshiach now”, and regarding that, the rebbe said beofen hamiskbel. ma shekol kain kal vechomer any other moshiach inyan… i’m not saying that the people who arranged the parade had there own political agendas (i know them personally and there not mishichist) all I’m saying is that these innocent acts have terrible repercussions.
On a more positive note, i read a post above, saying that next year they r getting new sings that was made by chabad.org and tzach, so where going in the right direction

  • Read if you care

    To clarify:

There is obviously nothing greater one can do on Yud Alef Nissan than to go on Mivtzoim and share the Rebbe’s message with thousands of Jews. That is what a Chossid does.

However the Chilul by the words displayed on the tanks, contrary to the Rebbe’s directives, draws more people away from the Rebbe than it bring close.

So if 5,000 Jews put on Teffilin that day, were it not for the Chilul it would have been 10,000 or more…

  • m.d.h.b.
