Sixty One “Mitzvah Mobiles” to Parade up Fifth Avenue

New Yorkers and tourists heading out for lunch this Thursday, April 14, could be greeted by an unexpected surprise. A parade, consisting of Sixty One motor homes, known as “Mitzvah Mobiles”, will roll through the streets of Manhattan, to raise awareness of the upcoming Passover holiday.

The parade was organized by a team of young Chabad rabbinical students, who began preparing for the parade six months ago. The Mitzvah Mobiles will travel throughout the New York metropolitan area, inviting men, women and children to come aboard to learn more about the Passover and receive some of the Passover staples such as shmurah matzah (for more on shmurah matzah please visit: www.MitzvahTanks.com/1851).

The effort is also part of a more global campaign by the Chabad-Lubavitch movement to increase Passover awareness and participation. According to estimates provided by Chabad-Lubavitch Headquarters in Brooklyn, NY, over four million hand-baked Shmurah Matzahs will be distributed by the Chabad movement this year. In addition, millions of Passover guides in 17 languages will educate people on the meaning and practices of the holiday.

“The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson taught us, that it’s not enough for one to celebrate the Passover, but we must share what we know and have with others, who may not have had the opportunities as we have had in learning and experiencing the holiday.” said Rabbi Mordy Hirsch at the Mitzvah Tank Org. “As Chabad emissaries across the globe will be working feverishly to provide Jews with matzahs, holiday guides and organizing public Passover seders, we will be covering NYC with Mitzvah Mobiles distributing Passover provisions and teaching about the holiday.”

The Mitzvah Mobile parade will commence on Thursday, April 14th at 10:30 A.M. from Chabad-Lubavitcher World Headquarters, located at 770 Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, NY.

Tentative Parade Route:
Brooklyn: Eastern Parkway, Flatbush Avenue to Manhattan Bridge.

Manhattan Bridge to Sixth Ave.
Up Sixth Ave. to 59th Street
Down Fifth Ave to. 24th St.

After the parade, each Mitzvah Mobile will go to its designated location inviting people of all ages, and from all walks of life aboard, giving them the opportunity to do a mitzvah or good deed on the spot. The parade is sponsored by the Mitzvah Tank Org. under the auspices of the Lubavitch Youth Org.
