Chanukah Mivtzoim for all!
A new initiative for Chanukah spearheaded by the Igud Avreichim of Crown Heights aims to get families and individuals to go out on Chanukah Mivtzoim. “Thousands of Jewish families living within a half hour of Crown Heights, in Brooklyn and Manhattan, will celebrate Chanukah this year with visits from Lubavitch families like yours.”
Dear Fellow Anash,
As Chassidim and Mekusharim, the Rebbe’s Inyonim are always our focus. In our own homes, at work and on the street, we try to share the joy of Yiddishkeit to the best of our ability.
Before Chanukah 5734, the Rebbe launched Mivtza Chanukah, announcing, “מ’זאל זעהן אז אין יעדער אידישער שטוב זאל מען אנצינדן א מנורה” – “We should see to it that a Menorah be lit in every Jewish home.”
Dear Chasidim, this year is our year! שנת 770! As the Rebbe highlighted many times, 770 is בגימטריא “פָּרַצְתָּ” – Break forth!
But how can the average family accomplish this? Where do we start? Who do we visit?
Igud Avreichim-Crown Heights in conjunction with Lubavitch Youth Organization is proud to introduce the first annual Family Mivtza Chanukah. Now you can give your family a meaningful Chanukah experience that they will remember and cherish, while sharing the light of Chanukah with others, as the Rebbe so strongly wants.
Thousands of Jewish families living within a half hour of Crown Heights, in Brooklyn and Manhattan, will celebrate Chanukah this year with visits from Lubavitch families like yours.
We have set up a Chanukah Center at 363 Kingston Avenue, next door to Hamafitz. The center will be open every night of Chanukah from 4-8 pm (on Motzei Shabbos from 6 pm). Stop in and we will provide you with Menorahs, candles, guides and an organized Mivtzoim route.
If evenings do not work for you, consider the following ways to participate in Mivtza Chanukah: Going shopping? Come by for some Menorahs to give out at the stores. Family trip? Stop in and pick up some material to give out along the way. Joining the car Menorah parade? Stay in Manhattan for an extra half hour to distribute Chanukah kits. You can do Mivtzoim with work colleagues, acquaintances and family—whatever your plan, stop by our Center and pick up everything you will need.
Let us make this the year that we break through our own boundaries and limitations. Let us make this the year that we finally break through our personal Golus, and thereby break down the barriers of the Golus Kloli and bring the Geulah now.
