DETROIT, MI [CHI] — On June 17, 2008 – 60 of the most respected businessmen and women in the Detroit metropolitan area gathered together at the beautiful social hall in “The Shul” – West Bloomfield, MI to pay tribute to their weekly “Friday Boys – Yeshiva Bochurim”.

As the guests entered the building, they were greeted by magnificent display boards displaying information and pictures of all the outreach that was done throughout the year. As they remembered the Chanukah parade, Matzos deliveries, and the weekly mitzvah with the young rabbi’s, they mingled amongst each other. Everyone was then invited into the hall, where a delicious buffet was prepared.

The emcee called upon a representative of the people that are visited – Mr. Morris Margulies. Mr Margulies described his weekly excitement and displayed much emotion as he prepared to say goodbye to the young men who he has become so fond of.

The representative of the bochurim, Mendy Levertov then responded and explained how much the boys as well look forward to coming in to the offices to do a mitzvah, and enjoy the friendly conversations. He explained how the life in yeshiva is, and then introduced a video that gave a comical but inspirational view at the average friday in the life of a bochur.

Filled with mivtzoim and rushing, the question was raised – “But, where does this inspiration come from”? The idea of The Rebbe being our everlasting light and inspiration in this time of spiritual darkness was explained, and all in attendance were encouraged to take upon one hachlota or resolution to strengthen their connection.

Following dessert, a large representation of the businessmen spoke up and thanked the bochurim for their weekly commitment and wished them well in all their future endeavors. Everyone exchanged information and promised to keep an ongoing connection and to help further enhance and expand the already amzing outreach program in Detroit.

    very nice!!! congratulations!
its allways important to be reminded of the affect that you have on a person just by the weekly visit, even though that at the present time you don’t see it! and when you hear what people have to say by these types of dinners its very fulfilling. so just keep it up and keep giving the rebbe nachas!

Leib Leibish Yitzchok HaKohen Wexler – Haven’t seen you in ages. – And nice beard.

Detroit has changed a lot since I was last there – but the same spirit and Hergesh still remains. Many new faces, many new Shemtovs.
