58 Tanks Spread Light and Good Deeds in NY!

New York, NY [CHI] — This morning, Wednesday Bochurim and Children were seen milling around President Street, where they were all looking for their ‘Mitzvah Tanks’ and the group they will be sharing it with. The 58 Tanks, which correspond to the number of years of the Rebbes Nesius, were all lined up and ‘armed’ with Pesach Guides, Matzos, Neshe”K and pairs of Tefillin, to set off on the annual Mitzvah Tank Parade commemorating the Rebbes birthday which takes place today, Wednesday, Yud Alef Nissan.

Over 120 Gorgeous pictures of the Parade and Mivtzoim for your viewing pleasure, in the Extended Article!

At around 11:15am the parade set off, escorted by officers of the NYPD’s Highway Division, on its way to Manhattan where the biggest Kiddush Hashem was displayed down Eastern Parkway, through Grand Army Plaza, then across Flatbush Avenue and over the Manhatten Bridge, and up 6th Avenue then down 5th Avenue.
The parade concluded at 24th St. and 5th Ave. and from where each tank set out to its designated location to do Mivtzoim around the city.

Organizers called the parade a “major success and Kishush Hashem and Kishush Shem Lubavitch”, saying that “countless tourists and New Yorkers were exposed to a phenomenal sight which prompted the question ‘what is going on?’ which were answered by the Bochurim and children while out on mivtzoim”.

R. Mordy Hirsch told CrownHeights.info “30 years ago the Rebbe started the ‘Mitzvah Tank’ concept, what better gift can we give the Rebbe then 58 tanks spreading good deeds and Mivtziom in a display such as a parade through Manhattan”.

Special thanks goes to the Community Patrol Unit in the 71st Precinct for providing parking and protection for the tanks, and to Highway Division 1 for the escort on the parade, and to all the Bochurim who gave hundreds of ours organizing and fundraising for the parade!

What a beautiful parade – a real Kiddush Lubavitch and a wonderful gift to the Rebbe bringing much yom tovdik Simcha to the participants and the onlookers.

This was the most beautiful, fabulous and soul stirring event that I have been to in a long time. Surrounded by the beautiful kinderlach, and hearing the heart felt pan that R. Hecht read brought tears to my eyes. May we only give Ha Kodesh Baruch hu nachas, and may the Rebbe immediately intercede on our behalf, look with joy and pride at his magnificent children and bring moshiach now!
Yashar Koach, and may our children (shyichu) go from strength to strength in Torah, mitzvos, mitvzoyim, simcha and yiras shamayim! A kosher and freilichin pesach to all Klal Yisroel.
