i think its nuts, you can build at least 2 new Chabad houses or support a lot more with this money, why should some shluchim not be able to put bread on their table when over a million dollars are spent on this (beautiful) weekend

cute but not really professional they should invest in the people that produced the yalili video – such a huge production warrants it

to #2 – The inspiration from this weekend enabling Shluchim to go back and work harder and fund raise more efficiently etc. justifies the expenses of the weekend.

It’s part of the overhead for the collective Chabad organization. If collectively, Baal habatim donate $1,000,000 more because of being inspired to increase their giving, the event is already financially justifiable. Not that it would be unjustifiable if it were not the case, because part of running a successful moisod is you need the inspiration to truck on with vigor.

Imagine if all the shluchim sent you the money instead of ‘wasting’ their money on getting themselves to NY for kinus, you may never need to raise another dime for your Chabad House! With all due respect Rabbi, you sound very silly and ‘klain kepeldik’.

(I’m sorry for almost spamming, I promise I’m not a kotlarsky… just a bit impassioned!) The Kinus that was very much encouraged by the Rebbe, tool shluchim to [metaphorically] fish. That’s a better investment than just sending shluchim a few fish once a year.

    To #2.

You are klein kepeldik. You simply don’t get it.

The prestige, fund raising ability, exposure, and the inspiration to shluchim generated by this event are well worth the price.

You can just go to the meshchist one in 770 where they wrap plastic table cloths around the pillars.
