OU Announces Major Change As Reese’s Pieces Peanut Butter Candy Goes Parve

by CrownHeights.info

The Orthodox Union (OU) Kosher has announced that Reese’s Pieces Peanut Butter Candy, a gem from the childhood of the previous generation, has gone Parve.

“REESE’S PIECES Peanut Butter Candy has been reformulated to Pareve (from dairy),” the OU wrote in a press release. “Consumers can identify the reformulated product as it will not include Milk in the ingredient panel or the allergen statement.”

According to the OU, the reformulated product still bears an OU-D on its packaging, but is absolutely pareve, not even dairy equipment.

“In the future, the kosher symbol will be revised from OU-D to OU, to reflect its true status,” they wrote.

Reese’s Pieces is a brand of the Hershey Company.
