HY’D: Three Soldiers Killed In Gaza Combat
Two IDF soldiers were killed and an officer was moderately wounded by an explosive device in the southern Gaza Strip yesterday, the military announced. Another soldier succumbed to injuries sustained in fighting last week.
The slain soldiers are named as:
Cpt. Amir Saad, 22, a Technology and Maintenance Corps officer serving in the Golani Brigade’s reconnaissance unit, from Yanuh-Jat.
Sgt. Inon Nuriel Vana, 20, a Technology and Maintenance Corps soldier serving in the Golani Brigade’s reconnaissance unit, from Kiryat Tiv’on.
Sgt. Maj. (res.) Betzalel Yehoshua Mosbacher, 32, of the 749th Combat Engineering Battalion, from Avnei Eitan.
The wounded Golani reconnaissance unit officer was taken to a hospital in moderate condition, the army says.
According to an initial IDF probe, Saad and Vana were inside a Namer armored personnel carrier that was hit by an explosive device, during operations in Khan Younis.
The military says it is continuing to investigate how the bomb was detonated against the APC.
Mosbacher and another combat engineer were driving in a Humvee in Khan Younis and were seriously wounded in the roadside bomb attack on July 19th. Mosbacher passed away due to the extent of his injuries.
