Historic Federal School Choice Proposal Heads to President Trump’s Desk

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed Congress moments ago and heads to President Trump for his signature.

The nearly 900-page bill contains many policies that will affect Americans in different ways but Agudah’s top priority in the bill was the historic federal scholarship tax credit. The unlimited, and permanent credit can generate hundreds of millions of dollars for K-12 scholarships. The bill also increases the Child Tax Credit and creates a stronger charitable deduction among many other changes that were important to our community.

“Agudath Israel of America thanks Speaker Mike Johnson (R- LA), Representatives Adrian Smith (R- NE) and Burgess Owens (R- Utah) for championing the issue of school choice and ensuring that a historic federal scholarship tax credit was included in the Big Beautiful Bill, “ said Rabbi A .D. Motzen, national director of government affairs. “The bill is an important step closer to a vision of universal school choice in all 50 states and will help families whether their children attend public, private, or religious schools.”
