Number of Yeshiva Students Skyrocketed, Jumped Up to 200% in Some Areas in the Last 20 Years

New numbers from New York State show an absolutely staggering increase in students in Yeshiva, numbers that have doubled in the last twenty years.
The OJPAC published the numbers on their social media, providing the raw data that shows just how fast the Jewish community is growiung.
In Orange County, which saw the greatest increase in students, the numbers jumped by a full 200% in twenty years. In comparison, the ten year increase was 53.5%.
Rockland also saw an absolutely astonishing increase with the numbers jumping 144% in twenty years. In comparison, the ten year increase was 63.2%.
Brooklyn also saw growth, with the numbers jumping 46% in twenty years. In comparison, the ten year increase was 12.6%.
In raw numbers for the 2021 enrollment in New York Jewish schools, there are 162,894 statewide, 84,805 in Brooklyn, 32,435 in Rockland, 12,409 in Queens, 8,774 in Nassau, 4,243 Manhattan, and 2,039 in Westchester.
Twenty years ago, in the September 2001 school year, there were only 470,872 students in non-public schools across NY. 98,712 or 21% of those students were in Jewish schools. In the current year, non-public enrollment is at 381,652 of which 162,894 or 42.7% are in Jewish schools.
