Israeli Soldier Found Dead In Mexico After Hiking Accident

The body of Yanai Rimon, a 24-year-old Israeli ex-IDF soldier who went missing while hiking in Mexico was found Saturday night.

Yanai had gone on a hiking trip in Mexico after finishing his mandatory IDF service. He was swept away over a waterfall on Wednesday, and a search and rescue operation was launched to find him.

In a statement, Israel’s Foreign Ministry said, “The body of Yanai Rimon was found after two days of searching in the area where he fell into the river. The Israeli Consul in Mexico, Shmuel Eitan, together with the PassportCard insurance company and MAGNUS search and rescue, coordinated the searches together with locals.”

Yanai’s family has been notified.
