Investigation Into Eliyah Haliwa Concludes, Not Jewish and No Terror Threat

The investigation into Eliyah Haliwa, a Lebanese Muslim man who was masquerading as Jewish and married a Jewish woman has concluded that he is in fact not Jewish, nor a terror threat.

“There is no credible threat to the Jewish community and there are no ties to this situation and terrorism,” the NYPD Deputy Inspector Richie Taylor was quoted as saying.

His status as a non-Jew was confirmed, but he was found to have broken no laws. According to YidInfo, both of his passports, Lebanese and US, were found to be legitimate.

Eliyah had spent years affiliated with a Texas Chabad House before meeting the person he was to marry, and was found having lied about heritage soon after his wedding.

According to a statement made by the Chabad House, they were aware of his questionable loineage and even informed the family of their suspicions.

The officiating Rabbi at the wedding took responsibility for not completing an appropriate Birur HaYahadus, and came out with a public apology.

Haliwa had not fled the country after being outed, nor has he been accused of any abuses.
