Even the smallest of lives mean the world.

A tiny kitten, caught inside the hood of an abandoned vehicle on East New York and Kingston was rescued last week with the help of the NYPD and Crown Heights Shomrim.

Officers from NCO Sector B were flagged down at East New York Ave and Kingston Avenue after a passerby noticed that a kitten was stuck inside an obviously abandoned car. After basic attempts to open the car failed, the officers called Crown Heights Shomrim, asking for help in gaining access to the vehicle.

“I was actually heading out when the call came over,” Crown Heights Shomrim volunteer Ben Cousin told CrownHeights.info. “There was a car there that was basically abandoned for a couple of months sitting there with a boot on it and tires in the back seat.”

The kitten had gotten stuck in the hood of the vehicle and the officers were attempting to open the car to open the hood of the car.

After multiple attempts, the passenger door was opened and the kitten rescued.

“They were so thankful,” Cousin said, “everyone there was very appreciative.”

A local resident who was watching the events unfold quickly decided to adopt the little feline, creating the perfect end to the entire ordeal.
