Elul 5781 Pruzbul: Complete It Online

The upcoming year, 5782 is a Shemittah year. Outstanding debts become void during Shemittah unless the creditor performs a Pruzbul, thereby remitting all loans to a Beis Din. One should perform a Pruzbul even if one does not specifically remember having provided any loans.

Although a Pruzbul can technically be performed any time before Shemittah, the best time to do it is Erev Rosh Hashana. This is because a Pruzbul applies only to those loans that were provided prior to the Pruzbul, and not to loans that were provided afterwards.

The Pruzbul is customarily performed by making a verbal declaration in the presence of at least three men, usually after Hatoras Nedarim. However, there are a number of scenarios and circumstances where it may be more practical or convenient to complete a Pruzbul document instead.

This online facility will be available until the end of Erev Rosh Hashana (Monday, September 6, 2021).
