As Orthodox Jewish Voters Flock To The Voting Sites, Wiley Continues To Ignore The Orthodox Jewish Vote

by CrownHeights.info

The pressure is mounting, but Wiley continues to ignore.

Progressive candidate for Mayor, Maya Wiley, is backed by the progressive left, and has felt little “need” for the Jewish vote. In fact, she was ignoring it completely.

A Civil Rights Lawyer and counsel to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, Maya was ranking third by some polls, and was considered a possible candidate for the office as her other progressive opponents in the Democratic fields faltered.

In the Jewish community though, she ranked far at the bottom.

Her lack of interaction with the Orthodox Jewish community was brought to the fore by Hamodia reporter Reuven Bochardt, who questioned Wiley over her lack of response to the Jewish media.

“Wiley has held private meetings with Jewish organizations including Agudath Israel, the Orthodox Union and Queens Jewish Alliance for Action,” Bochardt wrote, “but has not responded to interview requests from Jewish outlets, including Hamodia.”

The need to reach out to the Jewish community appears to have still not gotten through, with Wiley making a public Havdalah ceremony at Grand Army Plaza at 6:00pm this past Saturday, all while it was still shabbos.

Meanwhile, a massive push by the Orthodox Jewish Askanim has resulted in a surge in voting, angling the Jewish community towards a large power play in the Ranked Choice Voting system.

A recent visitor to an early voting site noted their surprise as a large portion of those there appeared to be Jewish.

The Democratic Primary Election is scheduled to take place this coming Tuesday, and all registered democrats are encouraged to vote.
