OU Alerts The Jewish Community of Ham With OU Symbol
by CrownHeights.info
Nope, it’s not kosher.
A package of Hardwood Smoked Ham Steak from The Golub Company and sold in Price Chopper is not kosher despite the OU symbol on its packaging.
The OU announced the unauthorized use of its symbol Monday, saying “The Orthodox Union does not certify PICS Ham. Some packaging bears an unauthorized OU. This product is being withdrawn from the marketplace.”
The unauthorized use of the OU symbol is likely accidental, as such incidents do happen and are usually addressed immediately.
