Askanim Lobbying For Family Hospital Visitation Need Your Help

by CrownHeights.info

A group of Askonim led by Satmar are working with state officials to pass legislation or guidelines for hospitals to allow patient representatives or volunteers (family members would be allowed to volunteer) to help and visit patients to ensure they are receiving proper care.

“We all heard horror stories of those suffering from COVID-19 and were admitted into the hospital and were not allowed visitation,” Crown Heights activist Yaakov Behrman told CrownHeights.info. “Askonim are currently working to change the current guidelines to allow visitation.”

Obviously the volunteers would be dressed in full protective gear and take all safety precautions to prevent the spread of the disease.

“As someone who has spent years in hospitals with my parents OBM, I can attest to the critical importance of having a patient representative or family member, especially during these circumstances where doctors may be overwhelmed,” Behrman said.

In order to make their case, the Askonim need firsthand stories from people recently hospitalized. If you or an immediate family member has a relevant story, please reach out to share with them.

If you or a family member has suffered please call the following number 646-580-3040 and provide your name and phone number, patient full name and hospital he was.

All names will be kept strictly confidential.
