Miami Braces For Coronavirus Outbreak, Declares Visiting For Pesach Prohibited

by CrownHeights.info

Miami is the Spring Break City, but now, its trying to be a ghost town.

In a letter addressed to the Jewish community across the Unites States, Miami Hatzalah, Doctors and Rabbonim came together to prohibit those looking to come for Pesach from coming.

“The Florida health care system is currently overburdened and an influx of new patients can lead to deaths. In addition to being a chillul Hashem, we have a Halachic requirement to keep our communities safe.”

With the strong letter, the Miami Jewish community is hoping to bypass what has occured in the New York City Jewish communities, a mass outbreak of Coronavirus.

Miami is especially at risk for the virus as it houses a large elderly population, and does not have the extensive medical capabilities of New York City.

Urgent Community Warning

To all those from out of state considering spending Pesach here in Florida:

It’s Halachically prohibited and medically irresponsible to come for Pesach.

The Florida health care system is currently overburdened and an influx of new patients can lead to deaths. In addition to being a chillul Hashem, we have a Halachic requirement to keep our communities safe.

If you choose to come anyways, jeopardizing the lives of many in Florida, you must quarantine for 14 days. This means no leaving the house, no excursions, no beach, no pool, no restaurants, etc.

Please be informed: Our local Shuls, organizations, Chabad Houses, or Kosher establishments will not be able to accommodate you for davening, mikvah, meals, tickets to parks or similar.

Wishing everyone a kosher, happy and healthy Pesach!
