100,000 Jews Gather to Celebrate Completion of Shas

Close to 100,000 Orthodox Jews sang, danced and prayed inside what is billed as the world’s largest synagogue — at least for a night. MetLife Stadium was transformed Wednesday for a celebration of the completion of the reading of the Talmud, the book of Jewish laws and traditions.

Rabbis wrapped their arms around one another, singing into microphones and rocking on a dais. Men were dancing in circles on the field while others were swaying in the stands. Women were praying from prayer books.

Portions of the program have been somber, though. It is dedicated to victims of the Holocaust.

The celebration marks the completion of the daily reading and study of one page of the 2,711 page book. The cycle takes about seven and a half years to finish.

  • Oh, please

The women were four thousand feet up in the air, yet they still needed a mechitzah to obstruct their view? Maybe a man would turn around and look at them with binoculars?

  • Nobody

#1, it is inspiring people to learn Torah. Nothing bittul about it.

#2, several pictures clearly show there was no Mechitza for the women, other than being higher up.
