‘Cease Fire’: Four Israelis Killed in the Eshkol Region

Four people were killed and another four were injured when a mortar shell exploded in one of the Kibbutzim in the Eshkol Region near the Gaza Strip.

At around 5:30pm local time a mortar shell was launched from the Gaza Strip into the Eshkol Region and struck a home. Four were instantly killed while another four were injured, three were listed in moderate to critical condition while the other was listed in ‘light’ condition.

Due to the nature of the munitions used there was no early warning or time to flee to a secure area.

Large forces of IDF and Magen David Adom units responded to the area and airlifted the casualties to nearby hospitals.

This mortar was just one of a large salvo of rockets and mortars that were fired at Israel during a cease fire Israel said would remain ‘open-ended’.

“We knew that there would be difficult days, this a difficult and hard day” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
