Neturei Karta Protests Alongside Hamas Supporters

Hundreds of protesters gathered in the United Nations Plaza in New York City to protest U.S support for the current Israeli military operation in Gaza on Tuesday. Among them were several ultra-Orthodox Jews, members of the Neturei Karta group.

The first organizers of the protest said nearly 7,000 RSVPd to the protest on Facebook, and they estimate around half of them showed up.

Protesters brought flags and placards, chanted in Arabic and English, but also spoke of their hope that one day Palestinians will live in peace. Several arguments with Israel supporters took place as the protest moved on but no arrests were made.

One young attendee can be seen in the video (below) proudly waving the flag of Hamas, which is designated by the U.S. as a terrorist organization.

Most notable at the event was Yisroel Dovid Weiss, who has a long history of embracing modern-day Hamans. He has hugged and kissed Hezbollah commanders, as well as with former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Weiss infuriated Jews around the globe when he attended the Holocaust denial conference in Iran in 2006.

    The founder Rav Amram was a Tzadik and a Talmid Chochem. He would roll over in his grave if he could see the leadership of today’s Niturei Karta.

    The problem with this invasion is what happens after? Innocent people who have lost innocent family, friends and community will have nothing left to live for. They have nothing to look forward to when their resources are limited, when their government is made up of terrorists who don’t care about them and nobody else does, either. There will be no incentive for them to get rid of Hamas or preventing another version from forming.

      Very few innocent people have been killed. Almost none, really. But if some are, so be it. That’s war. We can’t worry about the enemy’s people; we have enough on our plate worrying about our own.

      No, they are not innocent. A “child” who throws rocks at Jews, or who runs messages for Hamas, or helps load weapons, is not innocent. A “child” who harasses IDF soldiers, or poses for the cameras as if he were being beaten, is not innocent. The IDF has killed very very few innocent people in this war — either none or almost none. And never once in all its history has it deliberately targeted an innocent person.

      Once again, there are almost NO innocent people being killed. This war has less collateral damage than any other war in history. But to the extent that there is SOME collateral damage, SO WHAT? It is perfectly legal, so why are you concerned about it? Why do you care that our ENEMIES are dying?

They didn’t take anything too far; Reb Amrom was an ohev yisroel, and whatever these people believe has no connection with his shita.

Israel is under constant rocket fire, how else are they supposed to defend itself? you think Israel will justignore thousands of rockets??
