Satmar Bochur Is Critically Injured at Armory
A teenager was critically injured Sunday after he crashed a forklift inside an armory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Update: Please say Tehilim for Yaakov Meir ben Bina.
Yanky Stein, 17, of Williamsburg, was part of a crew dismantling a stage inside the state-owned armory on Marcy Ave. near Heyward St. about 6:30 p.m.
He backed into a metal beam and was wedged behind the wheel of the forklift, witnesses said. A neighbor said he suffered chest injuries.
The teen was helping totake down a stage following a gathering on Saturday night to mark the 67th anniversary of Satmar Rebbe Yoel Teitelbaum’s escape from Hungary during the Nazi occupation in 1944.
The injured teen was taken to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Did this 17 year old Satmar bochur have an operator’s license and training for the forklift? Why do Jewish mosdos consistently disregard warnings and the law?

I agree with you. But do you think our boys are smarter? They behave irresponsibly on Mitzvah Tanks, too many of them cramming in with inexperienced drivers operating RV’s.
How about Lag B’Omer parades when they hang off the floats & stand on top of moving cars or motor bikes?
Basically, bochurim think they’re invincible & take ridiculous risks or do things that no sane person should be doing. You think this kid ever “drove” anything more than a bumper car? Personally, I blame the “adults” who should have been responsible enough to stop him. Obviously he posed for a picture so he didn’t just grab a forklift & start moving.
Having said all that…yes, I said tehillim for him.
He has a family
This is my really good friends brother-in-law. Please daven for him. They had to restart his heart twice before they got him somewhat stabilized.

To #11: unlike your comparison with the child, I didn’t scream at the bochur. I screamed at the mosod that is responsible for allowing inexperienced and untrained bochurim to operate heavy machinery. These are preventable accidents and if mosdos didn’t shirk the laws, these accidents would occur with much less frequency.
HELP!!!!!!!!
FOR HEAVENS SAKE, ALL YOU SMART PEOPLE WITH YOUR EVEN SMARTER COMMENTS. INSTEAD OF WASTING YOUR TIME MAKING FOOLS OF YOURSELVES WITH YOUR RIDICULOUS COMMENTS USE THE TIME TO SUMPLY SAY TEHILLIM.. DID IT EVER OCCUR TO YOU THAT HASHEM IS THE ONE WHO RUNS THIS WORLD AND AS SUCH ORCHESTRATES THINGS TO HAPPEN THE WAY THEY DO?????? REGARDLESS OF WHAT WE DO OR WOULD OR SHOULD DO???????????????????

again quick to judge who said he dosent have the proper training and licence to work one do u know all the circumstances accidents happen not always is someone at fault it could b he took it without permission it dosent say excttly what happened so please stop pointing fingers!!!

To #16: Stop being naive and defensive of wrongful and dangerous conduct. Your ambivalence toward the problem causes greater risks of death and catastrophic injury. You’re being absolutely foolish in defending what happened here. I’ve been around enough frum events in my life to know that frum people have a general disregard for safety. This coming Chanuka you are bound to see shluchim and bochurim at menorah lightings who think they are capable of operating scissor lifts and cherry pickers on their own, at the risk of their own lives and the lives of those around them.
I am 100% certain that this bochur did not have a license to operate a forklift because the US Department of Labor prohibits anyone under 18 years of age from operating a forklift. I would be extremely surprised, knowing frum organizations as I do, if the bochur simply took a forklift without permission and operated it long enough to get himself severely injured. Where did he get the keys from? Who was supervising this activity?
Pull your head out of the sand and make a difference toward saving lives.
