Neturei Karta Rabbis in Iran for Anti-Terrorism Conference

US Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss, of the organization Jews United Against Zionism, also known as Naturei Karta, along with Canadian Rabbi Yeshaye Rosenberg attended an International conference on Global Alliance against Terrorism for a Just Peace in Tehran on Saturday.

Weiss and Rosenberg spoke with clerics and other Iranian officials during the conference. The rabbis attended the conference, despite it taking place on Shabbat.

Earlier this month, dozens of members of the extremist anti-Zionist group gathered at Kikar Shabbat, in the ultra-Orthodox Mea She’arim/Geula neighborhood, to burn an Israeli flag as a provocation during the two-minute siren marking Holocaust Remembrance Day at 10 a.m. on Monday.

Around 15 news photographers came to document the event, according to reports, though the photos never materialized when bystanders wrestled the flag away from the Neturei Karta and prevented them from burning it.

    Rabbis also brought a proclamation to Weingarten in federal prison signed by the head of Badatz Yerushalayim, Rabbi Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss, and other hasidic and haredi rabbis, declaring Weingarten’s innocence and endorsing a fundraising “pidyon shvuyim” campaign for his appeal.

    Weingarten repeatedly raped his daughter over a period of years beginning when she was a small child. The rabbis refuse to believe her testimony because she is a woman and no longer Orthodox.

    while we all may not agree on the political entity know is “Israel”, it is clear halachly that any words or actions by a Jew that would endanger another Jew is prohibited by Torah Law. The fact is Israel does exist and those that seek audiences with the enemy of our people are violating Torah law. They should silence themselves and take guidance in the Gemara’s that when there is a malchotis the answer is left to the days of Moshiach!

    The Weingarten case is another story altogether; Weingarten, like many sociopaths, is very good at fooling people, especially people on the level of Rav Weiss who find it hard to imagine that such tayves exist.

    But Rav Weiss and Scheiss Weiss are not related and not connected in any way.

    Reb Amram Bloy and his second wife did a lot of good in this world. They were true kanoim who cared about Jews and therefore opposed the medine. Rebbetzin Bloy did have contacts with Khomeini but she used them quietly to help Jews, not to help Khomeini get legitimacy. No one knew anything about this until long after her passing – she was looking to help (perhaps in the wrong way) Yidden, not to gain attention like this band of merry meshiggeners (who stole the name Neturei Karta from Reb Amram’s original organization, which was more of a chessed and askonus organization than anything).

    A contact in Tehran tells me, that even there amongst the Muslims, the Neturei Karta are viewed by many as nuts. However, they do much damage in the media.

    There are 2-3 different NK groups. This is the most extreme one, run by Moshe Bick. After Moshe Hirsh’s death a few years ago, Bick is the most important figure in this group. He lives in Monsey, and has been fighting with The Satmer Rebbe of Monroe over the public school issue. Moshe Bick is a talmid chochom & a very pious man, however his shita relating to Israel is very very warped.

    I agree with the former comments, that if they really meant it lishmoh & as a platform for hishtadlos to benefit Iranian Jewry, they would be acting less in the public eye. I wonder how much benefit they really bring for Iranian Jews.

    Over 30 years ago, Chanukah-time, Rabbi Hershberg of Mexico (Rabbi Alter Metzger’s father-in-law), who was a member of the U.N.’s association of religious leaders, went to Iran to meet the hostages, the Iranian Jewish comunity, and Khomeini. (There is even a picture of Rabbi Hershberg speaking in public with Khomeini standing next to him!) This was done with the Rebbe’s full brochos.

    However, this was before the evil of Khomeini was fully revealed, and also, this was for the exclusive objective of pidyon shevuyim of the Jewish hostages. It had nothing to do with renouncing Israel or anti-Zionism. These NKniks, however, are more concerned with showing their hate for Israel than with actually assisting other Yidden.

    One more thing: It is true that this group does not represent Satmer and that Satmer itself rejects them (to what extent is still not clear). However, it is the Satmer shita & prominence that enables NK to get away with their extreme views in the heimishe world. It has come time for the frum world to take a more united and public stand against them.

    And as for the tayneh that going out public against them will just give them more attention — well it’s already too late for that. They are already in the public eye, and every day that goes by without denouncing them reflects negatively on the whole frum/chasidishe community.

    Satmar doesn’t have the mechanism to put NK stragglers who happen to come from Satmar in cherem. The only known Satmarer in NK was the one in Vienna who has long since called it quits after being put in real cherem by the Vienna kehilla.

    The basic opinion of them on the Satmar street is “they’re not even important enough for cherem.” As you see from the video, most of the protesters without the badges are kids anyway – whatever they call themselves, they’ll outgrow it.

    Official: Group led by the Katzenellenbogen family. Not violent or very high-profile, kind of an umbrella group of extreme Chassidim and Litvaks/Perushim. Probably more into Shabbos and gravesite demonstrations than anything else – much like the original NK when Reb Amram Bloy ZYA was alive.

    Extreme EY: Yisroel Meir Hirsch took over from his father Moshe, Minister of Jewish Affairs under Arafat YMS (who paid him for his services as a court jester). YM Hirsch lives very well; his father was a gonif too and he had acid thrown at him for cheating someone in a real estate deal. Hirsch has a few ragtag nuts to burn flags and start fights when need be.

    Extreme chu“l (the Ku Klutz Karta): Beck and Weiss in Monsey and a few stragglers with common names that I don’t want to post in case I don’t have them right; Weberman in Williamsburgh; all kinds of meshuggeners in London (Beck’s son, Hochhauser, Grohman who is really out there, Domb who is an old man and more moderate); Cohn in Manchester, apparently this yold Rosenberg in Canada – basically all operate on their own and independent of Hirsch in EY (not extreme enough for them because Moishe Hirsch moved from the US to EY so that makes him suspect) but the crowd from chu”l meet occasionally in Teheran.

    There is no real Neturei Karta in the US. Natrunia – JewsNotZionists.org – is Satmar sponsored and they don’t meet with soinim. They do demonstrate at the embassy against grave and Shabbos desecrations.

    Just so it is clear, the NK’niks who demonstrated in CH last week have a Chazakah of Chillul Shabbos. This event was on Shabbos and the NK had no qualms about attending. There have been dozens of pro-Pali events around the world taking place in city squares on Shabbos, places where no eiruv can possibly be constructed according to anyone. The NK people (in full levush) were there CARRYING SIGNS in the RH“R (I saw it MTzSh”K on the evening news in my city)!

    So, any non-mevushal wines in store windows last week are now BeChezkas Yayin Nesech. And these people have no Cheilek in Olam Haba.
