Five torahs and other religious items worth as much as $250,000 were swiped from a Brooklyn synagogue, community leaders said Wednesday.

The brazen theft was discovered this morning at Congregation Yirah Haschem in Borough Park.

Community leaders were shocked when they opened the synagogue at 6:30 a.m. and discovered two silver crowns, two breast plates and five handwritten torahs were missing.

“This is a horrible thing to have happen,” said community leader Jack Meyer, 45.

He hinted that the holy heist may have been an inside job.

“We’re unsure if it was someone within the congregation, but quite a number of people knew the combination to the safe and many people have keys,” he said.

“The Rabbi is away in Israel right now so maybe this played a part in it,” he added.

Police did not immediately comment on the theft.

Rabbi Bernard Freilich said the torahs are priceless to the synagogue.

“They are handwritten and it takes them about a year to make,” said Freilich. “People donate them to honor a loved one who may have passed that is invaluable.”
