Swastikas in… A 770 Siddur?!

A Siddur in 770 is one of the last places one would expect to find anti-Semitism, but this was not the case for one mispalel, who was shocked when he found a number of pages in the Siddur littered with swastikas and crosses.

on one hand you kinda hope it wasn’t some stupid kid in Ch, on the other hand we hope it wasn’t some naxi. i think option 2 is very unlikely.

  • What next?

As horrifying & shocking as this is, my guess is it’s a stupid kid, judging by the other drawings. Still, I can only imagine how this guy felt when he saw it…I was appalled by seeing it here!

Isn’t it about time there was some basic education in our Yeshivas? Like Holocaust history? how about lessons on respecting siddurim, chumashim etc, including not trampling on them as they climb over benches. Here’s a revolutionary thought: DON’T CLIMB ON BENCHES!

You know what shocks me? When I go to the Bais Hachayim & I watch grown men walk over graves. I know in some places they are very close together, but let’s have some respect here!

  • weird

how did the guy know to put them in schacharis? where most people come to daven!!!

  • stupid kid

it was forsure a stupid kid iv seen with my own eyes kids colouring swastikas on paper notebooks bc they might of seen once or twice and decided to color it i remember when i was like 5 or 6 yrs old not knowing what a church was i built a church with a cross on top out of my lego

  • Nobody

Unfortunately the siman that this was done by someone who went to Yeshiva is that it is written between the letters. A real Nazi would have written on the letters.

  • Relax

Relax everybody. Its not a terrorist or Nazi just some sorry messed up kid who really needs some guidance and love. He’s obviously looking for attention and now he got it. Hopefully he will reach out for the positive attention he deserves.

There is also some Christian text written in Hebrew as you can see in the second to last pic.

Something about the messiah having eternal life and revealing himself in a second coming.

Clearly not beliefs of the Jewish faith.

  • god doesnt care any more than you do

well i guess there are unresolved issues like who is the king and queen of shabbos when each and every jew is supposed to reveal a level of “royalty”( malka with an aleph ) on shabbos don’t work all week for nothing
to watch and remember “royalty” for holy reasons is the mitzva
so the nazi’s won six million physical battles because the royalty and holiness of shabbos was profaned by industry/pollution/failure to abstain from melocha
you make your bed you sleep in it
as we approach shavous the yartzeit of king david who lived seventy years
it was when he was distracted by nature that his study of torah ceased
the swastika is a symbol of man’s freedom lost to nature’s need to regenerate and rejuvenate
the swastika is a symbol of racist policies that fail to acknowledge g-d
when a child is lied to by an adult to “protect” the child’s psych, the child won’t be strong enough.
to me the truth seems like 770 is a seven/shabbos short of being a royal place

  • worried

why are you all jumping on kids.
    It could have been anyone.
    “a stranger”

The dummkopf couldn’t even decide on which direction to make the swastika.

People should remember that it’s an ancient symbol used by Indian religions for luck so if anyone wants to use it to offend, disregard them.

  • i think your mother did it

the handwriting analyst says your mother did it
because there is no mention of women in tefeelah
    hahahahhahaha ezras avosaynoo
help your daddy be the king of his castle so it wont happen again

  • loving jew

i am very proud of who ever did this they have finally come up with something original! plus if you look carefully at each swastika, you could see at each bend another set of initials directed at each person that caused this boychik to let out his frustration this way, also notice these were placed during korbones which could also indicate that this child was forced by his parents or(whomever) to go and daven. so we have to think to ourselves maybe shul is not as enjoyable as we would expect it to be. maybe parents should consider taking their children to shul with them and create for their child an enjoyable shul experiance, stand next to your kid make sure that he is as much a part of your davening as you would like his children to also grow up to be true chayalim and give you loads of nachas! Oh there are no initials. come on parents get involved. you wont kick yourself in the tush later on in life because of it.
i hope i have not offended any of you! please feel free to comment back and i will try and follow up. moshiach now!

pleez anyone can put on a hat and toodals he’s in 770!
we dont have any chassid detectors y’know.
it could be some person who wanted to see wat would happen if he did this.
plus to ‘nobody’ i 100% do not agree with your comment.
the way you blame a jew first…. who has the anti semitism here……?
anyone who is writing on something and wants it to be seen would write it off the letters to have that result. get the picture?
    Pleeez think before you write.

  • Looking for achdus?

I imagine you placed the last three picture to try to equate yechi with the symbols of hate in the other pictures. I can think of no other reason, as they do not add anything to the story. Truly sad.

  • mendel

I believe we need to err on the side of caution and immediately evacuate 770 and seal off all entrances except for one or two and install them metal detectors and with screening devices operated 24-7 by guyishe check-guards,like at airports. No one enters 770 without screening until moshiach comes…tough golus tough reality.

  • I think...

It looks like a “bochur’s” work to me… bored during Karbanos

The word swastika is derived from the Sanskrit word svastika (in Devanagari स्वस्तिक), meaning any lucky or auspicious object, and in particular a mark made on persons and things to denote good luck. It is composed of su- meaning “good, well” and asti “to be” svasti thus means “well-being.” The suffix -ka either forms a diminutive or intensifies the verbal meaning, and svastika might thus be translated literally as “that which is associated with well-being,” corresponding to “lucky charm” or “thing that is auspicious”….

We can meet the same cases in Paris. Kids are fascinated by nazi and christian crosses for the reason that maybe they feel that it’s the same ideology. Nazi tried to destroy our body and christian during History tried to destroy our soul. I’ve done the same when I was 5. I was in a non jewish summer camp ans I used to draw nazi crosses on my tennis shoes. When my “madricha” saw that (she knew that I was jewish) she stopped to me and explained me that I am jewish and I didn’t have to make this kind of drawing because my people was suffered. I have never heard about the fact to be jewish before!

  • R- Shmuel

To the public: if it a stupid kid who wrote it in 770 then where was his father or anyone ells who saw him writing they would of stoped him, therefore its logical to say that the guy who wrote it didnt write it while sitting inside 770 but rather brought iin the sidur with the swastica that he drew at home

  • mottel

to schizophrenic – if you were really schizophrenic you wouldn’t write what you did. It is a terribole illness don’t make light of it.

  • BTW

to every one i was obviously a stuppid kid cuz the swastica is a whole bunch of diffrent ways so obviously the kid was not sure wich way the sawstica is suposto go

  • to: menachem
