Blatantly Anti-Semitic Exchange on C-Span

Israel National News

A caller on a C-Span interview program Monday complained about “all these Jews” having “way too much power” in America and pushing the U.S. into wars with the Muslim world. He found his comments echoed and expanded upon by the studio guest.

Michael Scheuer, the former director of a CIA unit assigned to track down Osama Bin-Laden, calmly expressed the view that American soldiers are now dying in Iraq for the sake of Israelis. He further claimed that any debate of American support for Israel is squelched in the public sphere.

The interviewer for C-Span’s Washington Journal program did not react to the blatantly anti-Semitic exchange. Several other callers praised Scheuer for his position regarding Israel, adding their own condemnation of the Jewish State and its supporters.

An excerpt of the initial discussion follows:

John (on the phone from Franklin, New York): “Good morning. I, for one, am sick and tired of all these Jews coming on C-Span and other stations and pushing us to go to war against our Muslim friends. They’re willing to spend the last drop of American blood and treasure to get their way in the world. They have way too much power in this country. People like Wolfowitz and Feith and the other neo-cons – that Jewed us into Iraq – and now we’re going to spend the next 60 years rehabilitating our soldiers. I’m sick and tired of it.”

C-SPAN host (to Scheuer): “Any comments?”

Scheuer: “Yeah. I think that of course American foreign policy is eventually up to the American people. One of the big things we have not been able to discuss for the past 30 years is our policy towards the Israelis. Whether we want to be involved in fighting Israel’s wars in the future is something that Americans should be able to talk about. They may vote yes. They may want to see their kids killed in Iraq or Yemen or somewhere else to protect Israel. But the question is: we need to talk about it. Ultimately, Israel is a country that is of no particular worth to the United States.”

C-SPAN host: “You mean strategically?”

Scheuer: “Strategically. They have no resources we need. Their manpower is minimal. Their association with us is a negative for the United States. Now that’s a fact. What you want to do about that fact is entirely different. But for anyone to stand up in the United States and say that our support for Israel doesn’t hurt us in the Muslim world, or our support for Hosni Mubarak’s dictatorship doesn’t hurt us, is to just defy reality.”

Earlier in the same interview, however, Scheuer made it clear what he felt should be done regarding Israel. In his opinion, the U.S. should “persuade” Islamic terrorists threatening America “to focus their anger” on Israel and on oppressive Middle Eastern regimes.

American Jewish Groups ‘Hurt’ Critics of Israel

Scheuer also later elaborated on what he said is the way criticism of Israel is prevented.

A caller named Nicki from Maryland thanked him for his comments on Israel and asked, “Why is it that the United States does not want to talk about Israel?” Prefacing his remarks by asserting that “Israel has every right to do what it needs to do” to defend itself, including the development of nuclear weapons, Scheuer said that the U.S. has no real interest in either Israel or the Palestinian Authority. “That is a religious war in which we have no stake,” he continued.

Scheuer: “Why don’t we talk about that? Because AIPAC and other influential American Jewish groups are extraordinarily involved in the funding of American political campaigns and have the ability to reach out and make sure that people lose their jobs, or are otherwise hurt, if they dare to criticize Israel.”

Scheuer went on to claim that he lost a job with the Jamestown Foundation think tank for saying that then-presidential candidate Barack Obama was “doing what I call the Tel-Aviv Two Step”. As a result, he claimed, “the donors to that foundation” ordered that he be terminated. He concluded the discussion of Jewish political influence by saying, “You know, you always talk about the Israel Lobby and its power, but to see it up close and personal aimed right at me was very educational. In fact, it was worth the experience of losing a job.”

Please hashem send us Moshiach already, AD MOSAI. If HIS coming is delayed much longer there might not be anyone to welcome him when he arrives in the year 6000.

Someone who can refute this lie should speak up, Don’t let these people spread their hatred of Jews and Israel.

  • Central Idiot Agency

I think the guy failed in catching Bin Ladin. Walks around with a chip on his shoulder. People like that whos jobs have been effected, will iltimately blaim the jews!

  • paul

well, you have to wonder if the guy thinks Islamic terrorists are religious warriors and all who should be directed to Israel and the Jews how hard he tried to catch Osama…just sayin’, Stockholm syndrome…

  • misconception

So this is the biggest misconception (courtesy of the biased media) that the world has, the war with the Muslims is not agains Israel, it is against the ENTIRE Western Civilizaiton, they hate Americans and their freedom regardless of Israel.

More people need to realize this, but with idiots in our very own homeland security like this, what can we expect.

I don’t think it’s Anti Semitic to feel that the US gives Israel more than they take in return. It’s simply inaccurate (imho). They don’t understand that the Arabs hate Americans even more than their hate for Israelis/Jews. I can’t blame them for falling for that, because the Arabs are the biggest Anti Semites in the world, so naturally, they believe that the Muslims have a chip on their shoulders against the US because of the big alliances with Israel. The caller though was certainly (though not inaccurate) a bit anti semitic (for stressing those Jews…).

In reality, I believe the Muslims hate Jews, but hate The Christian West more, because ultimately the [christian] West is a greater impediment to the spread of Islam, than tiny Israel is. They think, that if they can just destroy Christianity, Islam will inherit all christians as their followers. The guy is just too unintelligent to realize that after years of studying Islam.

In summary: Caller is an atisemite, and the guest is an Am Horetz.

  • Boycott C-Span

    Yikes, yikes, and double yikes!
How did they ever allow this call on the air, and why does Scheuer make this about America’s support for Israel?
I wouldn’t even expect this from Fox; this is incredible.
Substitute the adjective Black, or Asian, or whatever you like and tell me that there wouldn’t be such an angry outcry that this guy (the host) wouldn’t be off the air tomorrow.

  • Only the naive fools

He has been on very few shows. Only the naive fools on cspan would give him air time,

  • voted of obama

thats interesting. i didnt know the US was fighting israels wars. thats good to know. you know next time theres a terrorist attack ill just let the israelis know that they dont really have to worry about it because baracks got them covered. hm.

  • larry

its good i heard the whole thing i got my answer he got fired from a job because of jews .

  • There is nothing anti-semitic in the hos

I think what the Radio guest said is TRUE and not at all anti semitic in the slightest.

All he said was that Israel is no asset to the US vs. other Arabic/muslim nations, and that the American people need to talk about it and decide if it’s good for them or not.

  • Sam the Internet Troll

Relax everybody, he’s not talking about yokels in Crown Heights and all their political power – he was talking about those Jews who actually contribute to political campaigns and otherwise have an impact on world events …

  • ceo

one thing I can tell you is that each of us individuals, can do something right now. If you help one yid, if you do one more mitzva, if you work on yourself….if we all do that, then AmYisroel will be stronger. Don’t fool yourselves, WE can make the difference.

  • paul

no sam, he’s talking about all Jews because he doesn’t know any of us–it is all in his and the callers’ and anti-semite’s imagination–Jews who have influence are not forcing the 97 and up percent of Americans who are not Jews to fight Israel’s wars and israel has done more for the U.S. than its enemies–like your PC? like medicine? Israel designs Intel’s latest chips and provides Nobel Prize winning benefits in science and technology to the whole world.

  • Proud Jew

He is just an Anti-semite, nothing else. Its not about America fighting Israel’s war. America is targeted by terrorists daily and thats been for years. He knows it all too well because he tried to catch Bin Ladin but FAILED and all of a sudden it is a “Jew’s” problem….
Interesting how he didnt mention Afganistan…

  • ImperialEagle

When it comes to Israel the goyim will never “get it” because for over a thousand years they were not the ones who were exhiled from one country to the next and treated like dogs. They will never understand why Israel is so important to us because after all,in their minds, we are “just Jews”.

The same mentality existed before and when millions of our people were trying to seek refuge from the nazis, no other country in the world wanted us because we are “just Jews”.

So it is up to us to do everything we can to keep Israel safe, and not become too complacent. The America we know today may very well not be the America of the future and who knows when we just might have to move to protect ourselves.

  • Grow up

It’s a point of view you can agree with or disagree; it’s not anti semitic. That the Israel lobby has tremendous influence in Washington is a fact, if it’s a good thing or a bad thing, we can disagree. But when you cry antisemitism any time anyone criticizes Israel or the Israel lobby, it’s like the boy who cried wolf. When the real wolf comes no one will pay attention.

  • A Jew

Did you people forget what Previous Rebbe said? It is not only in spiritual matters, it is only in the matters of anti-semmetism America is no different.
Having said that it is time for Jews to depend on them selves and not to stand with out-stretched arm and wait for America to drop few coins. Stand up for itself Israel, stand up for yourselves Jews.

  • Horrified

I am SHOCKED this is not being spread – send this to EVERYONE you know! The Anti-Defamation League was set up for this reason. This is blatant anti-Semetisim that can’t be ignored; ignoring it will only give them the OK to make their views louder. The nonJewish listeners were only too eager to accept this anti-Semetic explanation for the Iraq problem; someone needs to stand up on C-Span and explain the Rebbe’s point of view, flat out and clear, to make sure nothing, nothing, ever, ever, happens like this AGAIN.

Stockholm Syndrome. Islam is using the west to bully Israel into giving up more and more land. The best way to do that is with threats of violence, and actual violence. No one would dare speak up to a Islam because they know what can happen, so all they can do go along with what Islam wants. But here is where the psychology comes in. In order to do this, they must justify such to themselves, so they reshape their beliefs to demonize the Jews, work themselves up over the new found beliefs, and then can, with a cleared conscience, appease Islam, which is beneficial to them because they know that Islam will continue to threaten the west until the west denounces Israel. Much like a battered wife will submit and cower under the gaze of her abusive husband, kiss up and appease him in order to – survive -so too must the west do this with Islam. But it can’t without first playing mind games with itself, convincing itself Islam is right all along. In the end, tho, appeasement will not work, and the west will find out the hard way. Cest la vie
