EUROPEAN UNION — Rabbis and Jewish communities throughout Europe have been rallied to try to stop legislation that would ensure more humane treatment of animals being slaughtered.

A new EU bill aims to lessen the suffering of animals for the Jewish method of shechita, or ritual slaughter.

A Conference of European Rabbis has said a new bill being debated in the European Parliament includes various clauses which could see shechita being declared illegal.

The bill would allow member states to force cattle breeders to stun animals before being slaughtered; an act forbidden in Jewish religious tradition.

The European nations would supposedly also be free to forbid the importation of meat that did not comply with the standards of the new bill.

The proposed bill has led Jewish leaders in Europe to mount a continent-wide effort to prevent the legislation passing in its current form.

  • Bunch of anti-Semites

They are just a bunch of anti-Semites. It’s all a front, and they don’t care about the animals they claim to be protecting.

If I understand correctly, the debate is whether to maintain the current laws, which allow Shechita without pre-stunning throughout Europe, or whether each member state should be allowed to enforce their own restrictions. For a change, this means that the dictators in Brussels would leave each country to apply the law only if the government of that country sees fit.

I believe similar laws are already in place in England, but Shechita and Halal Slaughter are exempt. Why can’t they just make it like that everywhere?

Interesting. They don’t mind when bulls are brutally killed in bullfights in Spain, just for the fun of it. But Shechita, that is a problem.

  • Are you Kidding?

Did you see how they chopped Daniel Perl’s(may his blood be revenged) head off? Do you actually think humane or humanity enters into the picture of that religion?
