Rabbi Spooked by Ghost Seeks Help
LONDON, UK — The Rabbinical Centre of Europe tackles complicated halachic questions sent by the rabbis of the continent on a daily basis. But nothing prepared the RCE for a recent query by a London rabbi, who sought the center’s help in getting rid of a ghost he said was dwelling in his new residence.
The RCE’s Response department in Israel, which provides halachic answers to the questions of European rabbis, was approached by Rabbi Levy Yitzhak Raskin of London on behalf of a fellow rabbi who asked not to be identified.
“In the last months he has noticed a foreign presence in his new home,” Raskin described in his letter. “Closed windows have been opened; he’s been hearing knocking, and so forth.”
According to Raskin, when the distraught rabbi turned to his congregation for help, “they confirmed that these strange events have occurred in the past, and estimated that the noises were caused by the ghost of a rabbi… who was the synagogue’s first rabbi and passed away 40 years ago, and is now seeking tikkun for his spirit.”
According to the congregation members, the founding rabbi would occasionally visit the house in order to see how his community was doing.
Will prayers help?
Upon receiving this query RCE member Rabbi Mordechai Biton immediately forwarded it to Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar and Rabbi Yitzhak Batzri.
Rabbi Amar ruled that two tikkun prayers – one for the house and the other for the deceased rabbi’s soul – should be recited in order to resolve the matter.
Rabbi Batzri offered to include the rabbi’s name in his yeshiva’s biannual tikkun prayers for the dead, or to instruct Rabbi Raskin how to hold such a prayer in London if necessary. “If this doesn’t help, it’s a sign that this is a different ghost that may be misleading them, and we’ll discuss how to handle this later on.”

now THIS is news! something different
sam
There are too many sefardi names in this article for it to be believable (Rabbi Mordechai Biton, Rabbi Yitzhak Batzri,Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar. Not to say sefardim are not trustworthy but they are known to be more superstitious than the average joe. FLASHBACK: Remember Aryeh Deri and the bogus Dibbuk tape story in Israel? Enough said. Let us come back to our faith based on real facts and conviction not phoney ghosts.

He should get an MRI.
Halucinations can be something medical.
mmendy
(annon shedim do exist)
he should go to the mikveh every day and study chitas
another self-professed maven
he should eat 3 cloves of garlic before lunch and start wearing orange socks.
and sam… your comment about sfardim is ignorant and pathetic.
mh
shedim (ghosts) do not exist
ppl say that the baal shem tov traced them away
but there are stories of the rebbe with shedim
basicly the rebbe chased away the last shedim which did exist
so this story isnt really true or the rabbi should check if its his family members who open the windows or theifs

Thought Purim was over?
To Mr MH
Although you meant well, just about every line of your post is mistaken.
S“Ds are translated as Demons
”Ghosts“ is a reference to souls of people who passed
The tradition about the BS”T is indeed about S”Ds
Your statement about the Rebbe is completely off the mark
Mendel Rosenblatt
it’s just a bunch of crazy sefaradim makingu a story for publicity. don’t listen to this farkakt tall tale.
Who are you to say anything??!!!
Sam,You too mendel rosenblatt (great regular Lubavitch name btw),
I am Half Sephardi, half Ashkenazi. Ashkenazi from my father’s side, Sephardi from my mother’s side. My question to you is, are you sephardic? Such ignorance! Chassidim are forever talking about mericules that their rebbeim constently preform. AND, if you know ANYTHING about (non-chassidic) Yiddish Theatere and culture, you will see that they are forever talking about Bli Ayin Harah, (without the evil eye (Jelousy) ) and in my opinion, to the point that it seems they are more superstitious than even the sephardics are. AND if that wasn’t enough; the most sephardic of all Jews, the Yemenite Jews as original as they come, (some) dont even believe in HaZohar or any form of Kabbalah!!! The author of the Shulchan Aruch was a Sephardic Jew. (Shulchan Aruch.. it doesn’t get more down to earth then that…) Such Beliefs that Sephardics are superstitious come from ignorance.
You see I have all rights to say this because I’ve lived both worlds! I’ve lived as a strickly Yiddish speaking, Gefelte fish eating, (sterotypes by the way) Yiddishe Jew. I even became a Lubavitcher for 10 years. I then realized the sephardic blood within me and lived another 10 years as a sephardi. I became a Cuscus eating, Ladino/Judeo-Arabic speaking, Mizrahi loving, singing shema in a whole lot cooler way, Sephardic Jew. I now learn to merge the to, because after all no one is better than the other. As the Rebbe said. A Jew is a Jew is a Jew. You know- Nazi Germany took over Morroco and North Africa too. And Sent Jews from their to death camps to. I get this fealing that Hitler didn’t care weather they were sephardic or not. (He probibly had no clue their was even a difference.) But lets face it. Avraham Avinu came from Iraq Ok? Until the “GREAT glorious enlightend” Ashkenazic came, we were a bunch of superstitious people. He must have also been superstitious to follow this voice that told him Lech Lecha…. to leave his whole world that he knew, his home, behind to someplace he knew not the location of, or what it was in the first place for that matter…
and a… the Rabbi and his congragation who are complaining this are Ashkenazic so… come on you hateful Jews! All of us, Ashkenazic hates Sephardi, Sephardi hates Ashkenazi, We will never recieve Mashiach this way! Because when mashiach comes, we will all be concernd whether he is Ashkenazic or Sephardic and all that stupidity. We will go down together as Jews, and we will become great as Jews. NO GOy knows anything about the difference between the two. So everyone get off your high horses! “Oooo I eat Glat, im better than you!” (so much for that Rubashkin) “Oooo I daven nesuch Sephard” “ooo this… ”oooo that“ G-d is sick of this, Im telling you, He is so tired of it, He would just like to crash us all and destroy the planet. Jews are no longer the pillers that hold the planet from destruction because we are all wicked, cheeting, immegrant beating (Rubashkin) Charity ripping off (Madoff) condeming, hateful, self-rightous Messed up people. THAT I have only learned from being a Jew. THat and that alone!
That is why we all convert to christainity (for the record since you are all gossips, I am NOT a christain!), No one hates each other there. I can understand hating other religions, but why EACH OTHER!!! Shame on allllllll of us! No one is rightous anyomore, no one desurves Mashiach. We are back to the days of Jeremiah or however you spell his rightious name.
We all as wicked heathens that we are MUST make the greatest tikkun ever that History has never seen before. Then MAshiach will come. Ok?
Shame on Ashkenazi!
Shame on Sephardi!
Shame on Mizrahi!
Shame on Hassidish
Shame on Lubavitch
Shame to those who are forever hatefull of one another
Shame on everyone.
Shame to all Yehudim for not following the Torah.
NOt Halacha! Torah. because without the Love of Torah, there is no Halacha. Prehaps before we learn to follow His laws, we should just learn to be able to say ”we shall do”. In other words we should all grow a heart. Read a little more of Tanach, not even torah, and find out what happend Israel in the first place! Why was the Temple distroyed? Hmmm?! What are Jeremiah’s words to the people?!
Us as a people have a reality check. I just feal so horribly bad for our Rightous Rebbe, all he wanted was unity.. but none of us Yehudim can give such a thing can we.
Forget the Talmud, quit the Parasha for just a moment! Is not Tanach still Torah? Read what happend to us as a people for history. ANd you will know that we need more than just bringing people just to Lubavitch to bring our redemtion.
ANd a Farkackt tall tale???! Splitling the sea of reeds, the ten plagues, alll of Passover is a tall tale!
and… you do know that the people that are complaing about the ghost in the first place are an Ashkenazic Rabbi, and an Ashkenazic congragation… RIGHT??!
Who are you???
Of course because of your self rightousness you will not post my comment. But thats ok, You are just hurting the Jewish nation. What would the Rebbe say?
What I said is what all yehudim need to hear. Do you want moshiach are not. Are you willing to try anything. I have the whole comment saved on my computer. Im not going to quit posting it.
We as a people need to know reality. No antisemitism? are you joking? No hate fullness from Jew to Jew, are you joking?
We as a people hate each other, and always will because people refuse to lission to the truth… do you want the truth or the lies you tell yourselves. Deleting my comment, will not change reality whether you believe in reality or not.
Good day,
And L-rd have mercy on all of us.
