Ahava Food Company Reacquired by New Owners
OGDENSBURG, NY — The Ahava Food Company, which operates the only plant in the USA that produces exclusively cholov yisroel cheese and milk, was recently acquired by Toobro, LLC, a company whose owners have years of experience in the food industry. Toobro’s owners plan to update and improve the existing operation while continuing to uphold the highest standards in kosher food production and low prices for consumers.
“Toobro, LLC plans to take a good company and make it even better,” said Hank Sheinkopf, a spokesperson for the company. “We are going to be the big cheese of the kosher cheese business.”
For years, Ahava had produced a number of household names in the kosher dairy industry – such as SlimU, Morning Select and New Square, among others – but recently the company had fallen on hard times. Ahava, which has two upstate production facilities and corporate offices in Brooklyn, filed for bankruptcy and was ultimately purchased by Toobro, LLC a few days ago. A new management team has already been installed and looks forward to moving the established brands into the future with a new focus on quality and affordability.
In only the first few days since taking over Ahava, Toobro, LLC has already poured in hundreds of thousands of dollars into updating the facility in Ogdensburg. Additionally, the company has brought in an industry specialist to inspect and certify the plant for production. Ahava also has a facility in Lowville which currently produces most of their products. That facility is also being updated at this time and is currently running at full production.
“Our goal is to send out Quality products that are 100 percent fresh, Ultra kosher and delicious,” Sheinkopf said. “Our prices may be low, but all our milk and cheese will be of the highest quality. We want people to enjoy our milk and cheese and have confidence in our product.”
All Toobro’s products continue to carry the highest level of Kosher supervision. The company’s supervision starts from the milking stage through shipment and distribution.
Toobro, LLC is headed by brothers and co-presidents Menachem and Schneur Bistritzky who have over 40 years of combined experience in food manufacturing and distribution.

Thank You Very Much!
Nice to see that the company will continue the tradition of providing quality dairy products for the Jews in the USA.
I wish success to the Bistriztky brothers who are taking over the plant, may the have Hatzlacha Rabba lemaala min hameshuar, and they should continue the effort of “hafotzas hamaayanos” in their way by furthering the Cholov Yisroel awareness in the Jewish Community.
Thank You.

WOW!!!!
How exciting to know that the Bistriztky’s are back in the milchig food business. Mendy and Schneur learned from the best teacher possible…Their father Leibel Bistrizky ran the first kosher cheese store on the lower eastside. I can remember seeing both Mendy and Schneur working behind the counter when they both were young. They inherited their parents incredible work ethic and I’m sure we will all reap the reward. The public is waiting for the delicious outcome and I know it will be a huge success because it has to be up to Leibel Bistrizky’s standards. I can’t wait its going to be a delicious treat.
hard at work
Too bad they are deadbeats. We did some work for them to get them back up and running. The plant tells us the work was the best they have ever seen, but Toobros won’t even discuss payment because they have not budgeted for the work. Should have left them shut down….
Annoyed in Long Island
“Deadbeats” is an understatement . . . . I bent over backward for them numerous times and now they won’t pay the open invoice that is 5 months past due. They don’t even have the decency to pick up the phone when you call.
