On Friday night sometime after 3:00am the ice cream store “Nosh World” located [for those of you that don’t know] on Kingston Ave. between Crown St. & Montgomery St., had been broken into by an unknown number of thief or thieves, which was very similar to the robbery at Kol-Tuv in a number of ways.

The thieves cut the gate and then broke the glass door and frame to gain entry to the store, then proceeded to emptying out the 2 cash registers and took a few bags containing money from the Tzedaka Pushkas that are near the registers. The “interesting” part of this robbery was that the phone cards that Nosh World sells, are hidden at night in one of the freezers and the thief knew exactly where that was, as it didn’t seem that he tossed the place searching for valuables, and took that [which in itself is valued at over $500 worth of calling cards] and the contents of the of the cash register [which had not been emptied before Shabbos].

The points of similarity between this robbery and the one at Kol-Tuv was the way the gate was cut, the time it had been broken into, the apparent knowledge of the area and layout of the store and the location of the valuables. The car service next door was not disturbed.

    interesting… why werent there police on the corner??!?!? if guliani was mayor, this would not have happened because there would have been cops there on the corner! so much for bloomberg. we need cops round the clock patrolling, not just at 5 in the afternoon when its safe anywayz.

    THE 71ST POLICE DEPT. IS TO OCCUPIED GIVING OUT TICKETS, THEY HAVE NO TIME DEALING WITH ROBBERIES AND RAPES.

    This is something that the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council should address, to improve Shomrim and Shmra, and to get the sh’cuna to stop being so lazy when it comes to civic responsibility.

    to "hmmm": no, i live right here in crown heights all my life. and what you said is exactly the problem, you dont expect crown heights to ever be safe! with an attitude like that then of course it wont be safe because everyone will just say "ah, who cares there is nothing u can do". but that is not true! why shouldn’t i expect there to be police patrol every minute of the night!?!? why am i paying taxes? i have a right to be safe. if i own a store, i have a right to know that it wont be broken into because there will be police patrolling.
    its sad to see how the way we live changes the way we think. your so used to not living in a safe and clean environment that when someone complains about it you think he is from another planet…. its very very sad! there are things that can be done to help this place such as more police patrol at night to start.
    anywayz, im just saying that your mindset should not be that we are doomed because thats the worst thing, then we really have no hope.

    to "another girl" why cant we have patrol all day and all night? why cant we have police posted at certain "high priority" areas like up and down kingston ave and here and there around ch? let the sit in a police car i dont care, but as long as there is a police presence then that will deter would-be criminals.

    We also must take additional steps to insure our own saftey.. There must be background checks into who is
    employed.. because it seems to be some inside info
    was used… there may have been disgruntled employees who passed on detals to their unsavory friends who
    would do the dirty work and in return would give them a piece of the action…
    Unfortuantely… A lesson was not learned from the Kol Tuv Robbery….In that a weakness in the security gates was found and exploited…
    It doesn’t take a enormous amount of intelligence to
    know that was this was uncovered, it leaves the door open to any lowly person to take advantage…
    But this does not relieve the 71st Pct of its responsibility to prtotect is citizens adequately…
    AS well as the Crown Heights Organizations and political Big wigs to get off the fat bottoms and do something!!
    As the Rebbe has said, time & again: The Deed is the Main thing !!"
    Action is what is Needed — Groaning accomplishes Nothing !!
