Nittel Nacht is a very bare evening for a Yeshivah student, Classes end early and there is no Yeshivas Erev due to the Prohibition of learning on this evening. For the very first time ever Lubavitcher Yeshivah managed to fill this gap, by hosting its first ever Chess Tournament in 770 for grades 5 through 8. The tables were lined with Chess Games, as more than 70 students poured in to the Shul earlier this evening.
After Several rounds of exciting games 2 winners emerged. Zalman Zajac of 5th grade and Tzvi Hirsh Shmalberg from the 7th grade. Winners from the 6th and 8th grades were not yet determined taking their tournaments into overtime tomorrow at Yeshivah. The winners each received a glass Chess Set.
Many are asking: what is this a new mivtzoim? Mivtza Chess? And the answer is Yes, indeed, this is very important, although not new, the idea of playing Chess on Nittul Nacht was something that was seen by all of the Rabbeim, thus adds this to the bigger Mivtza Hiskashrus at the Yeshivah.
