Swastikas Painted At Jewish Cemetery
BRISTOL, Conn. — Police are looking for the vandal or vandals who sprayed swastikas on headstones at a Jewish cemetery.
Police say the swastikas were discovered on three surfaces at the cemetery on Lake Avenue. Now they’re hoping someone will know who is responsible.
Even after efforts to clean one grave marker the image of a crudely drawn swastika remains.
Bristol police say they believe someone came to the small cemetery late Saturday night and left behind the graffiti.
The graffiti marked this headstone and was also on both white name plates leading into the facility. The images were several inches tall and police say it appears they were drawn with a black marker.
The cemetery is affiliated with the conservative Kol Ami synagogue in Cheshire. Police say leaders there first reported the incident, but so far they have no suspects.
Police say they’re hoping someone in the area will be able to tip then off to who might be responsible.
If a suspect is identified they will face very serious charges.
