
Company Behind Zelle Sued by NY AG for ‘Enabling Widespread Fraud’
New York’s top lawyer is taking the company behind Zelle to court for what she calls “enabling widespread fraud.”
Attorney General Letitia James has accused the company, Early Warning Services, LLC (EWS), of failing to protect Zelle users from massive amounts of fraud, the suit states.
An investigation by the AG’s office alleges that Zelle lacked critical safety features, allowing scammers to steal more than $1 billion from users of the money transferring app between 2017 and 2023.
