Student Loan Interest to Restart Accruing This Summer
Some student loan borrowers will start seeing interest accruing on their accounts at the end of July, according to an announcement from the Department of Education.
Beginning Aug. 1, loan interest will restart accruing for borrowers in the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan, a move expected to impact almost 7.7. million people.
It comes after a federal court issued an injunction to prevent the full implementation of the SAVE plan in spring 2024. In February, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the injunction.
