Kosher Cooking School To Open In Brooklyn
Brooklyn, NY — Brooklyn is soon to have its very own cooking school. And what’s more, it’s 100% kosher!
The Center for Kosher Culinary Arts, set to open its kitchen this October after the Sukkot holiday, will offer intimate, hands-on, recreational cooking and baking classes in a variety of subjects for children, teens and adults, taught by some of the city’s top culinary professionals.
Special workshops with visiting master chefs and cooking demonstrations/tastings by popular kosher and specialty cookbook authors are also on the menu.
The school is the outcome of a partnership between Baruch and Elka Pinson of Crown Heights and Jesse Blonder of Manhattan Beach. The Pinsons are the owners and operators of Happy Home [a CrownHeights.info advertiser], a kitchenware/giftware store that has been serving the Midwood community for almost 15 years. Mr. Blonder, director of the school, returns to Brooklyn after having worked in Manhattan at both the New School’s Culinary Center ofNew York and the prestigiousDegustibus Cooking School at Macy’s Herald Square.
The October curriculum includes such enticing courses as: Culinary Concepts for the Jewish Woman, The Art of Chocolate, Asian Hors D’oeuvres, Cookies for Kids, Phyllo Dough: Savory & Sweet, Tempting Tapas, Gluten-Free Goodies, Italian Master Sauces . . . the list goes on and on. Happy Home’songoing Wilton method courses in cake and cookie decorating will also continue.
The Center for Kosher Culinary Arts and Happy Home will be hosting an Open House on Sunday, October 7th, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and encourage anyone interested to drop by. Happy Home is located at 1407 Coney Island Avenue between Avenue J and Avenue K in Midwood. For more information, visit HappyHomepage.com.
