NEW YORK, NY — Through education and social service programs, the National Committee for the Furtherance of Jewish Education, established in 1940, continues to spread the word of G-d and Judaism with the ultimate goal in bettering the world in which we live.

From preschool program, Chai Tots, through primary, secondary and collegiate yeshiva programs, to the sophisticated scholars of our Ivy League Torah Study Program, each of our educational institutions builds a brilliant future for mankind. In addition, projects such as marriage counseling, career placement and training and substance abuse prevention, help our communities and teach people to take responsibility for their lives.

Our aim is for everyone to have the opportunity to pursue wisdom, knowledge and understanding and for all to know that giving is the secret of success. We strive to improve the quality of life, not just in our immediate environment, but in the world at large.

Our program to provide food for the underprivileged and hungry to combat hunger and malnourishment to any persons in need. The program is open to all – helping both the Jewish and Afro-American community in Crown Heights.

Rabbi Shea Hecht, Chairman of NCFJE serves as liaison with various local, state and federal government officials, with legal counsel and with the news and communication media. Despite these time-consuming activities, he keeps his finger on the pulse and helps individuals and families in their times of need with his relationship and crisis counseling.

The National Committee For Furtherance of Jewish education, Annual Breakfast took place on Sunday September 9th 2007, at the Congregation Orach Chaim, Grand ball room , in Manhattan, New York, the program started with Rabbi Shea Hecht, bringing greetings, sounding of the Shofar ,was done Rabbi Shloma L. Abramowitz.The Emcee was Suri Kasirer, president of Kasirer Consulting.

The Following Borough Presidents were honored: Borough of Queens Leadership Award, Helen Marshall, Borough of Manhattan Leadership Award Scott. M. Stringer, who were on hand to pick up the awards in person, the following Borough presidents sent honoree’s to pick up their awards, Hon. Marty Markowitz, Brooklyn Borough President, Bronx Leadership Award, Hon. Adolfo Carrion, Jr. Bronx Borough President, Staten Island Leadership Award, James P. Molinaro, Staten Island Borough President.

The other guests in attendance were the Comptroller of City of New York,William Thompson, Senator Eric Adams, Council members David Yasky , David Weprin ,Assembly Member Mark Weprin, New York City Sports Commissioner, Kenneth Podziba, William E.Rapfogel, Executive Director of MET Jewish Council, and food was catered by Michael Fried and Family and supported by Herbert Weiss and family.
