Hachnosas Safer Torah amid Labor Day Preps!

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] – A different kind of music rang through the streets of Crown Heights Sunday afternoon, amid the preparation of the West Indian Day Parade, better known as the Labor Day Parade, residents gathered and danced to Chassidishe Nigunim as they welcomed a newly completed Safer Torah.

The Safer Torah was dedicated in loving memory of R. Sholom DovBer HaCohen OBM and his wife Mrs. Yachet OBM Eichorn by their family.

After the last letters were filled in the procession began on President and Albany with loud lively music and proceeded to make its way up Kingston Avenue across Eastern Parkway to the ‘Crown Heights Shul’ at 825 Eastern Parkway, while people joined in and danced with the Torah.

The 71st Precincts Community Policing Unit provided the logistics, blocking off the necessary streets in order to make the event a safe and successful one, and our thanks to them for it.

The Eichorns were the epitome of an open welcoming home! They set a living example of hachnasos orchim and it is wonderful that this Sefer Torah is dedicated in their memory. Their memory should be blessed and their children and grandchildren should be reunited with them NOW with the coming of Moshiach!!!

just like the torah is infinite, so too should be the aliyah of the neshomos in whos honor this torah was written.

As the neshomos of the Eichorns climb to sublime spiritual levels, may they exert a positive influence through the seder hishtalshilus into our physical world, inspiring us to be the best we can be, and finishing the job of closing the door on the golus/

What a fitting tribute to the Eichorns,
whose home was the place to go to for so many newcomers to Crown Heights 35 years ago….It was the place where there was not just a bed you could count on, and a beautiful healthy meal with loads of fresh vegetables for the then, very uncommon, vegetarians, but there also complete kindness, warmth and sincere acceptance!
May their neshamas have an aliya and may they be reunited with all of their loved ones with the coming of Moshiach NOW!
