Political Upset As Two Democrat States Flip To Republican
by CrownHeights.info
Is it the sign of a political shift, or is it just COVID fatigue?
These questions are being looked at extra hard after two majorly Democratic states flipped Republican in yesterday’s elections.
Virginia, in perhaps the most hotly contested race that saw the White House campaigning, saw a narrow race for governor and win from Republican Glenn Youngkin. The position of Virginia Lt. Governor also went Republican, with Winsome Sears, black female ex-Marine, winning the slot.
The second major upset came in the historically Democratic State of New Jersey, which saw incumbent Democratic Governor Phil Murphy narrowly trailing Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli. While the race is still too close to call for sure, the fact that the state could fall to the Republicans is a sobering thought for the Democrats.
While the Virginia race had many factors driving its Republican resurgence, including issues of Critical Race Theory, the New Jersey win may be largely in part by the Jewish community, a major player with growing clout in its elections.
