New York Holds Second Slot in Country For Assisted Funeral Costs

It’s a second-place slot no one wants to be in.

New York State awarded more than almost all the other US states in a recent release by FEMA outlining the number of those assisted with funeral-related costs for deaths occurring on or after Jan. 20, 2020.

In total, FEMA has provided over $1 billion to nearly 155,000 people across the country who were simply able to provide the required documentation.

New York State saw a staggering 23,614 applications submitted, 13,314 of whom were awarded altogether an incredible $92,074,920.

The only state that recieved more than New York was California, which saw 26,790 applications submitted, 15,406 of whom were awarded altogether $99,973,471.

In contrast, Florida saw 14,816 applicants, 8,532 of whom were awarded altogether $48,199,732.
