Massive Explosion in Nashville Rocks Downtown on Friday

A massive blast that sounded like a “bomb” rocked downtown Nashville early Friday morning when a vehicle exploded, rocking buildings and sending heavy smoke into the sky, according to reports.

The explosion happened about 6:30am in the vicinity of Second Avenue and Broadway and could be felt for miles as heavy black smoke billowed skyward at the site, WKRN reported.

Buildings shook in the area after the explosion. Three people were reported lightly injured in the blast, which officials are now calling intentional.

According to Don Aaron with Metro police, The scene at 2nd/Commerce in downtown Nashville will be active for an extensive period of time, with ATF, FBI and other agencies involved in the investigation.
